Greetings and thank you so much for joining us today. This week, we've been talking about prayer basics, just encouraging us to understand different forms of prayer and to develop the prayer habit. I want to bring our attention to what the Lord Jesus said in Matthew chapter 6 and verse 6, Jesus said, "But you when you pray, go into your room and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; And your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly." Sometimes, we think prayer is a wasted exercise, what's the use of praying? I'm sitting here all alone in this room and nobody else is here, I'm speaking seemingly to the roof. What's going on? It's quite possible that sometimes we lose interest in prayer because we think like, what's really going on? Does it make any difference? But I want us to understand what Jesus said. He said, "Look, when you pray, you go to your room, you shut your door, meaning you're all alone by yourself, and you are praying to your Father in secret." So, you're not talking to the roof, you're talking to heavenly Father, the God of this universe. So, when you find yourself sitting all alone in your room, on your bed or on your chair or wherever you are kneeling down or however you're praying, you are talking to the God of this universe. It says your Father who sees you in secret, you see when you're praying nobody else sees you, nobody else is giving you claps and applauding you and saying, ‘oh you're praying all alone.’ Nobody may even know that you're praying in that room of yours. But Jesus said your Father who sees you in secret. Just remind yourself, when I'm sitting here all alone or I'm here all alone by myself praying, the God of this universe is seeing me. My Father who sees me in the secret place, He's seeing me, His eye is on me. And Jesus said this, "Your Father who sees you in secret will reward you openly." Meaning, your time in that prayer closet, your time in that secret place is never wasted. You're all alone, nobody is there to clap for you, nobody even knows you're there, but the God of heaven is seeing you. And Jesus said, "Your Father will reward you openly." That means when you go out, you're going about your life, you'll find God taking care of things. Why? Because you spent time in prayer, you asked Him, you prayed the prayer of petition, you just prayed prayers, interceded, you gave thanks, you spent that time alone with Him. Nobody else saw you, nobody else knew you were doing that, but your Father who saw you in secret, He's going to take care of a lot of things when you go about your daily life and He will reward you openly. People are going to wonder how did this happen? How did that happen? Oh, there's a little secret. I spent time alone in the secret place and my Father who sees me in secret, He takes care of things when I go about my daily life. That's amazing and that's a wonderful reward to enjoy. So, prayer is never wasted because the Father who sees you in secret is going to reward you openly. Father, thank you that you're such a God who sees us in the secret place and you reward us openly. Thank you for the open rewards, in Jesus' name, Amen.
