Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much once again for giving us this opportunity to spend a few moments in God’s word and prayer. This week, we are looking and gaining insights from the epistle of Colossians. Today, we will talk about experience. Colossians chapter 1, verse 9, ‘For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives.’ Colossians chapter 1, verses 9 through 14 is on long sentence in Greek and is one of the most power packed prayers in all of scripture. This great prayer is all the more impressive because Paul the apostle never visited this church. Do we pray for saints we have never seen? Paul did! Since the day Paul heard that report, he had been praying for the Colossians. It may seem unnecessary to pray for those who are doing well. Paul however, knew that the knowledge that someone is growing in grace and Christlikeness should never lead them to stop them from praying for them. Rather, it should encourage prayer even more. The enemy reserves his strongest opposition to those who are most potential of expanding God’s kingdom. Undoubtedly, another reason to pray for the Colossians is that they were still relatively new believers in the midst of an insidious, gnostic heresies beginning to creep all around them and into the body of Christ. Paul with an eagle eye, surveyed the church in Colosse which he loved so well and he noted that it was somehow lacking in knowledge. Colossian brotherhood differed considerably from the church in Corinth which abounded in talent and was enriched with all knowledge. The Colossians had fewer gifted brethren among them who could act as teachers. Throughout this epistle, we observe that Paul frequently alludes to knowledge and wisdom. We are not sent into this world to live by ourselves but we are members of one body and each member is expected to contribute to the health and comfort of the home. It is true we all cannot preach but we all call pray. We cannot all distribute alms but we all can offer prayers from our hearts. In temporal ways, we may not be able to enrich the church for lack of substance but if we fail to bless the church with our prayers, it will be for lack of grace. We can pray this part of scripture over our families and friends. God has offered each of us the chance to adventure with Him, assuring us the full life that He has in store for us.

Let us pray, Father, we thank you for your word and for what you have taught us today from it. We pray that we will apply these principles in our lives, in the things that we do, in our workplaces, in our families and we thank you for teaching us to walk in your ways, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
