Shalom and welcome again to another series of Living Supernaturally, where we look into God’s word, learn from it and apply it in our lives. Through the last couple of days, we have looked at the Israelites’ journey in the wilderness, learnt some wisdom and truths from it so when we are navigating through different situations or circumstances that maybe wilderness situations for us, we have the truth of God’s word to lead us through.

We have been looking at how the wilderness experiences, can be a place of uncertainty and fear. We see in the account of the Israelites that once they were freed from Egypt, into the second month of their journey, they began to complain and grumble about their provision. They complained about meat, food, the good things they had in Egypt and they asked to go back. They complained against Moses and Aaron and they thought fondly about all the pots of meat and bread they had in full. We see God responds to this complaint in Exodus chapter 16, verse 4, ‘Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you. And the people shall go out and gather a certain quota every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not.’ We see God’s response to the complaints/ hunger of the Israelites. He provided manna and quail sustaining them daily for forty years. This reminds us that even in seasons of wilderness, when we think our resources are scarce or our circumstances are overwhelming, the provision of God is sure. God’s provision is absolutely sure. Why? Because God knows each one of our needs. Before even the Israelites asked, God saw their need and prepared to meet it. His provision of manna and quail showed that He was aware that they would be hungry or thirsty. So, in our wilderness, we can be rest assured that God knows ever need even before we ask Him. We see that with the Israelites that God provided daily grace for them. This manna was given to them daily; they were to collect just enough for them for that day and that is what they were instructed to do. This actually taught them to trust God on a daily basis just for the present moment/ today. That is what we can learn from, trusting God on a regular, daily basis. We see that while God provided manna, God was also testing their obedience. Would they really trust Him enough to gather only what was needed or more of it? The wilderness season also tests our faith, challenges us to trust God, His timing and provision. We see that God is a faithful provider because God’s resources are limitless and He knows what we need. Even in our wilderness situation, we can trust Him because He knows what we need and He will provide what we actually also just need. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you that in our wilderness seasons, you know our need even before we can think/ comprehend it. Thank you for your daily grace. Even as we look to you, we pray that our faith would be in you, our provider. Thank you that you continue to work in our lives, refining us to be more like you. Thank you for every provision that we have, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
