Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much for giving us this wonderful opportunity to minister God's word and spend a few moments in prayer as well. Today, we'll talk about wisdom from above. James chapter 3, verses 13 to 18, ‘who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such wisdom does not come from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure, then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace, reap a harvest of righteousness.’ King Solomon was told by God that if he could ask for anything he wanted, he would receive it. Instead of asking for long life, riches, popularity or power, Solomon asked for wisdom. He understood that the wisdom that comes from heaven is one thing we need more than anything else, if we are able to do what God wants us to do. According to our reading today in James, wisdom is not some intellectual gift that makes us intelligent. True wisdom does not come from a high IQ or from high scores in school or college entrance exams. True wisdom is a gift from God which is given to us, to help us live life as God expects us to do. It is the kind of wisdom that affects every area of our everyday lives. I'm sure many of us have been asked this question or have asked this question, I just don't know what to do! I want to do God's will, I don't know what He wants me to do, whether I should go to school, whether I should get a job, move to another city, to another country, whether this is the right person to get married to, when to start a family. More than once we have asked this question. So, how do we live and how do we know God's will? James chapter 1, verse 5 gives the answer at least in part, ‘if any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God.’ By ourselves, we don't have the wisdom to know what God has in mind for us and that's the reason we need to ask God who gives us generously. God gives us His wisdom through the Bible. Psalmist says, ‘your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.’ God gives us His wisdom through people in our lives. So, don't be afraid to ask people for their insight. God gives us wisdom through open and closed doors and through changing life circumstances. We have to ask and then we need to observe clearly as God provides the answers. This wisdom is first pure, then peaceable, which is gentle and kind. This wisdom is willing to yield, it is not stubborn or obstinate, it is full of mercy, it does not judge others strictly on the basis of law but it will extend generously the hand of mercy, it is full of good fruits. This wisdom can be seen by the fruit it produces. So, let us ask God today, to fill us with His wisdom. We pray for the presence of the Holy Spirit to help us experience the wisdom from heaven. Let's pray, Father, we thank you for your word that we have learned today that says that if any of you lack wisdom, ask God who gives generously. Lord, we pray that in life, we may have many questions, many of us are in different seasons of our life and we are asking questions. Lord, we pray that you will give us the wisdom, the insight, reveal to us the answers through your word, through people, through our brothers and sisters and I pray that we will be able to receive the answer and to walk in your ways, we thank you, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
