Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally, where we take a few moments to meditate on God’s word and pray together. Who are you? How do you answer this question? You might say I’m a father, I’m a mother, a working professional, a businessman or even a homemaker. But an answer that identifies your personal status or your country doesn’t answer that question correctly. The question is asking about identity, character, and purpose. 1 Peter chapter 1, verse 1, the apostle Peter begins his epistle by saying ‘to God’s elect, exiles scattered around the world.’ Peter invites the followers of Jesus to courageously profess and answer like this, I am God’s elect, chosen to be part of God’s family throughout the world. The epistle of 1 Peter was written to a Christian community that was persecuted for its faith, ridiculed for its lifestyle, and challenged in its purpose. The apostle Peter seeks to refresh the believer’s memories and their unique identity that they are citizens of heaven. Even more, we are children of God whose profound privilege is to glorify God. So, regardless of joy, hardships, success or failure, triumph or temptation, God’s call on our life is the map by which we can navigate our Christian life. Each one of us are part of God’s kingdom, we have a heavenly inheritance. Let’s pray, Father, we want to thank you this morning for what you have done in our lives. We thank you for calling us and choosing us to be partakers in your kingdom. We pray that you will teach us to walk in obedience, to walk in love, that you will empower us, to be channels of your blessing to this world around us, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
