Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity to spend a few moments in God's word and in prayer. This week, we'll be talking about the glory, that is the glory of the Lord, what glory looks like? John chapter 13 verses 31 and 32, ‘so, when he had gone out, Jesus said, now the son of man is glorified, and God is glorified in Him. If God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and glorify Him immediately.’ God's glory is the magnificence, worth, loveliness, the grandeur of His many perfections. God communicates His glory through His creation- image bearers, His providence and redemptive acts. In the Bible, the glory of the Lord is often described as a radiant, awe inspiring display of God's power, holiness and majesty; often depicted with imagery like brilliant fire, clouds, thunder signifying overwhelming nature of God's presence that cannot be comprehended by humans. It is essentially a manifestation of God's character and attributes. Moses requested of God, now show me your glory. In His response God equates His glory with all His goodness but God said you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live. No mortal man can view God's excelling splendor without being utterly overwhelmed. The glory of God puts the pride of man to shame. Often in the Old Testament, the manifestation of God's glory was accompanied by supernatural fire, thick clouds, a great quaking of the earth. We see these phenomena happen when God gave the law to Moses. Mount Simai was covered with smoke because the Lord had descended on it. The smoke billowed up from it like a furnace and the whole mountain trembled violently. The prophet Ezekiel’s vision of the glory of God was full of fire and lightning and tumultuous sounds. In the New Testament, the glory of God is revealed through His son Jesus Christ. John writes and he says, the word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only son who came from the Father full of grace and truth. The miracles Jesus did were signs which revealed His glory. The natural world also exhibits God's glory revealed to all men, no matter their race, heritage or location. The heavens declare the glory of the Lord, the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Our submission and obedience to God's loving plan reveals God's glory in and through us. Let's pray, Father, we thank you for your word. Today, even as we read about your glory, that power, that majesty, that awe; Lord, we pray that you will release that glory upon each one of us that we may taste and see that the Lord is good. We thank you and we praise you, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
