Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally, thank you so much for this opportunity to minister God's word and spend a few moments in prayer. Today, we will wrap up by talking about the weapon of prayer. Prayer is the most powerful, spiritual weapon we possess and it has no limitations. It is a long-range weapon that can sneak into enemy territory and bring destruction. As a missile, it locks in to a target and can be launched from great distances. There is no limitations and time or distance when it comes to prayer. In Acts chapter 12, James, one of the leaders has already been executed by Herod. Now, Peter has been arrested and was scheduled for execution shortly. Picture this scene, this is a maximum-security jail, it is the inner prison and Herod is so determined that no one shall rescue Peter that he actually has 4 squads of 4 soldiers, each watching him day and night for hours at a time. It is implied that one soldier was chained to either Peter’s hands or his feet. So, it was absolutely under the maximum. It is natural, any kind of rescue was totally impossible. But the bible says that the church was praying earnestly. They saw the danger of Peter; their natural leader being taken. Their motivation was earnest prayer. They were not only praying in the daytime, but the record indicates they were praying even at night. God answered the prayer of the church, an angel came and delivered Peter. However, the deliverance was only the first part of the result of their prayer. The second part was the judgement by the angel on executing king Herod. The promises of God’s word are not a substitute for our prayer, they provoke our prayer and it takes our prayers to make promises of God’s word effective in our spirit. It takes our prayer to be able to release the intervention of God into people’s situations and lives. Three reasons why we need to pray, first of all, we need to pray to stand against the devil. We are not wrestling against flesh and blood, but against principalities, authorities and rulers of darkness. Secondly, we need to pray in order to put on the whole armor of God. The verb is ‘to take.’ Take the helmet, take the sword, praying is a participant. Thirdly, we need to pray in order to be strong in the Lord and strong in His might. The scriptures remind us, be strong in the Lord and in His strength, that is the opening command. It frames everything else that we’ve looked at. Prayer is a humble appeal to God. In His omnipotence and almighty power to stoop down and meet us in our darkness and in our times of need. Prayer at all times also means we are praying at good times and bad times. Let us as believers, be people of prayer and trust God that He will answer our prayers. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you for your word and we thank you for this weapon of prayer. We pray that you will teach us to pray, empowered by the Holy Spirit. Even as we do this, we know your word says and teaches us that you are a God who will answer prayers. We commit each one of us into your hands. Teach us, lead us and guide us, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
