We Overcome (Daily Devotional)

by Ps Nancy Ramya

Hello everyone, welcome back. We are talking about God’s word. Today, I just want to remind us that the word of God is a weapon in our lives, in our hands and in our mouth. We overcome the enemy with the powerful word of God. Ephesians chapter 6, verse 17, this is the passage where we read about the armor of God, it states, ‘take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.’ We are reminded that the word of God is an offensive weapon against the enemy. When he comes against us with his lies, accusations, condemnations, temptation and all forms of tactics that he applies against people, we can stand up and say, no devil, we are overcomers. We overcome by the word of God. We use the sword of the Spirit, the word of God against satan. We’ve seen Jesus do this during His temptation. He quoted scripture, He went back to scripture and said, it is written, it is written, it is written. This is how Jesus overcame satan during the period of His temptation. It is very important for us to recognize that the word of God which is with us is that offensive weapon that we can readily use against the enemy. Revelations chapter 19, verse 15 again speaks about the word of God. It says, ‘Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword’, referring to the word of God. So, the word of God is the sword out of the mouth of our God. Similarly, when we carry the word in our mouth, no matter what circumstance we are going through, we affirm the word. Maybe we are going through some sort of sickness, pain and discomfort in our body, we are not saying that we must deny facts but at the same time what we are saying is that we can affirm spiritual reality which is greater than the natural reality. Even as we do that, we will see God working in that natural situation and making His word true and making His word manifest. We can just go ahead and speak the word at those times and stand on that word, even if it means it is going to take a while before we see the manifestation. Just hold on to the word. Let the word of God be a part of that war against the enemy that we are in. We will see the victory of God come through in our lives. I just want to encourage us friends that we have the sword of the Spirit, the word of God with us. Let’s use it as a weapon against the enemy. Let’s overcome the enemy with the word of God. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you for the powerful weapon of your word in our lives. We pray that we will conquer and overcome every onslaught of the enemy with the weapon of your word. Thank you for giving us these weapons and helping us overcome, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
