Daily Devotional church in Bangalore
by Sis Jean George

Shalom, we thank you for coming once again, to tune in with us, to learn and discover God's word. Through this week, we have been learning about the richness of God's love and the attribute that we see today of God's love is His unchanging love. Romans chapter 8, verses 35, 38 to 39, ‘Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.’ We live at a time where there is so much of pain, betrayal, hurt, rejection, it seems that these struggles are almost permanent. But the only thing that we see that is undoubtedly and consistently unchanging is God's love, God's unchanging love. Sometimes, we gauge God's love based on our circumstances, the understanding is that if things are going right with us, we think that God is pleased with us, God loves us and if things aren't going too well, we are under the impression that there is something wrong or that God has forgotten us or that He is offended by us, but scripture shows us no matter what, God's love is completely constant, it's unchanging and it is consistent. We do not have to look at our circumstances and gauge God's love by and through our circumstances. The thing that God gives us to gauge His love is only the cross, the finished work of Jesus on the cross, the fact that He died on our behalf has made us reconciled to the Father and that's the only determining factor that shows His love for us. Through this verse that we explore today, we saw that trials, tribulations, persecutions, none of these are an indicator of God's love for us. Paul tells us and gives us an understanding that God is not the author of these things or of these difficult times, all of these have their times and we all being in the world will be going through it. James chapter 1, verse 17 says ‘Every good and every perfect gift is from God above, it comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or no shadow of turning.’ Here, the scripture shows us that no matter what happens to us, God is not the author of things that as Paul described and His love for us never changes, there is no variation in it. His love is always pointed out and aimed out to us. God's love for us is a place where you can find solitude, you can find peace, you can find strength, and you can find security in the reality that His love for you will never die. No matter what the situations you are facing today, the circumstances you are facing today, God's unchanging love is with you. Let's pray together, Heavenly Father, we see from your word that no matter what we are going through, your love is unchanging and we have victory in you because of what you did for us on the cross, with the love that you showed us. May we enjoy this unchanging love at all times, we thank you, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
