Shalom, thank you for joining us for another episode of Living Supernaturally. We started yesterday to delve into the surety of God's promises. Today's devotional focuses on the truth that God will not break His covenant. His promises are unbreakable. God promises that His covenant is unbreakable. Psalm chapter 89, verse 34 reads, ‘my covenant I will not break, nor alter the word that has gone out of my lips.’ This psalm is a reflection of God's covenant with David and His steadfast love and faithfulness. Verse 34 is a powerful reminder of the unbreakable nature of God's promises. God will never go back on His word or alter the promises He has made. The context of this psalm is that it brings about God's covenant with David, promising that his descendant would reign forever. We know the challenges that David faced but God remained faithful to that covenant and this culminated in the coming of Jesus, fulfilling the promise of an eternal Kingdom. The term covenant in this verse refers to the sacred promises God made with His people. Throughout the Bible, we see God making covenants with Noah, Abraham, Moses, David among the many others. Each of these covenants came with a promise that God committed to fulfill. This only shows His desire in maintaining a true, intimate relationship with His people. What do we understand? God never makes a promise or a declaration that He fails to stand by for all eternity. If He says He will do something, He does it. God is saying the promises which I have made I will not make a different thing, I will fulfill it. This is an unconditional covenant not based on our condition but on God's holiness. Therefore, not only will He not break it, He will not alter it in any way, not adding or subtracting from it, nor failing to even keep every detail of it. God's word is unchanging and His declaration is that He will not alter what His lips have uttered. What can you and I take from this? Understanding that God's unwavering faithfulness should inspire us to really deepen our trust in Him. When we face uncertainties, we can find comfort and strength in the knowledge that God's promises remain intact. His promises are sure and you and I can rest in the assurance that God will fulfill them. Let's pray together, Heavenly Father, you have promised that your covenant with us, your people is unbreakable that whatever your lips have uttered, you will fulfill it. Lord, we stand on that promise and we declare what you have declared over our lives. Thank you for your covenant with us, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
