Daily Devotional church in Bangalore
by Ps Jeyakumar Isaiah

When we walk with the Lord, in the light of His word, what a glory He sheds on our way, while we do His goodwill, He abides with us still, and with all who will trust and obey, trust and obey, for there's no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Welcome back to another edition of Living Supernaturally. I hope you're having a great day and a great time. We're looking at some of the songs that have shaped us in the church, songs that we have grown up listening to and singing and one such song is this ‘Trust and Obey’. It was in Dwight L Moody's revival meetings when this song was birthed, a young man who gave his life to the Lord, he testified about giving his life to the Lord and during his testimony, apparently, he said this, he repeated this over and over again, he said, I'm not quite sure, I'm going to trust and obey. At that meeting, there was the music director of Moody Bible Institute, Professor Daniel Towner, he took hold of this phrase and he put the melody to it. Another person by name John Sam is a young hymn writer, he developed the lyrics for the rest of this song, and this is how it goes.

Not a burden we'd bear, not a sorrow we share, but our toil He doth richly repay, not a grief nor a loss, not a frown or a cross, but is blessed if we trust and obey. Then in fellowship sweet, we will sit at His feet, or we walk by His side in the way, what He says we will do, where He says we will go, never fear only trust and obey.

Christian life is really that simple, life of a believer. He has called us to trust Him and to obey Him. In fact, the Lord Jesus says in John chapter 14 and verse 15, ‘if you love me, keep my commandments.’ Sometimes we complicate things and make it very complex, but it's as simple as that, to trust our Lord Jesus and to obey Him every day. Let's pray, Father, we thank you for this life that you've given us. We thank you Lord for the calling that we have. We thank you for the places where you have placed us to be the salt and light and Lord help us to remember that it's all about trusting you and obeying you each and every day of our lives. We know that the path of the righteous grows brighter and brighter as the shining sun, even unto the noonday, we thank you, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
