Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity to come your way, to minister God’s word and pray together. This week, we will be talking about transformation. The moment you and I as believers, accept the Lord Jesus, the Lord begins to transform us and the way He transforms us, He uses different methods/ means, so, this, week, we will be talking about ways that God transforms our lives. Today, we talk about transforming through the word of God. 2 Timothy chapter 3, verse 16 and 17, ‘All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.’ The study of God’s word in secret is the secret discipline for spiritual transformation. Other books may be useful information but the bible was given for transformation. Timothy had the privilege of reading, studying and memorizing God’s word from infancy. He learned firsthand how the scriptures transform us. Paul explains that God’s word is profitable for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. It is a guide that helps us fine tune every part of our being. Teaching focuses our mind and shapes our rethinking. Rebuking picks our conscience so that we don’t have to travel the wrong direction. Correction molds our will so that we see the wisdom in God’s plans. Training in righteousness shows us how to act more like Christ. In this way, the word of God initiates a four-step transformation in our lives. To simply put it, teaching tells us what is right, rebuking tells us what is not right, correction tells us how to get right and training teaches us how to stay right. The holy scriptures are the breath of God. God’s word serves as a catalyst for the transformation in our lives. Here is how it works; the Holy Spirit guides us as we carefully and systematically study God’s word. When we understand God’s ideas revealed in the scriptures, the Holy Spirit convicts us and gives us those ideas on how we should apply it in our lives. Here are a few steps in the process of transformation- one, understand. So, understanding comes when we yield ourselves to God in faith and apply ourselves to thoughtful, daily study of God’s word. Two, surrender, we always have to let go of something in order to let God in. Three, evaluate, our choice to obey must be followed by evaluation. Four, follow through, this is essential, we have to discipline ourselves to actually do the things God has asked us to do. If we want to be productive, useful and fertile as a Christian, we need to get into God’s word which brings about life changing transformation. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you for your word. We thank you that your word teaches us, corrects us, rebukes us, leads us, and empowers us. Even as we continue to read your word, I pray that you will minister to each one of us, that there will be a greater transformation in our hearts, in our lives, in our character and in everything that we do, we will be transformed to be more like you, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
