Hello and welcome back to Living Supernaturally, we’re so glad that you could join us here on this daily devotion, where we could look into God’s word. Today, we are looking at 2 Timothy chapter 3, verses 14 to 17, ‘But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing form whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction I righteousness, that the man of God maybe complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.’ Paul is writing to Timothy to continue in the things which you have heard, knowing from whom you have heard them. He is saying to continue in what you have learned, what you’ve been assured of meaning firmly persuaded and established in. Continue to put to practice the truth, don’t put a pause on it, don’t stop or go back and knowing from whom you have heard them, knowing the source of your learning, meaning considering the life and testimony of those from whom you have learnt. Consider the outcome of their faith and living and be assured of it and continue. He is talking about these scriptures and says they are able to make us wise for salvation. Salvation is by faith in Christ and by grace but these scriptures are able to make us wise for salvation. The scriptures are used for doctrine, for teaching men, for the main principles, tenets of a particular faith, in this case, he is talking about scripture and faith in Christ. The scriptures are for reproof meaning it provides evidence, brings conviction. Scripture is also used for correction to straighten again whatever is bent which means to rectify error. It is used for instruction which means to educate, train, nurture, to cultivate the mind, to educate one in righteousness. So, scripture, the word of God which is God breathed inspiration of God is profitable, beneficial and effective for all these things. How wonderful it is that we’ve been given the word of God for teaching, for providing evidence for conviction, for rectifying error, for instructing, for cultivating, for nurturing things in us. The reason is that God’s desire is that we may be complete which means fitted, brought to fullness, that we will be complete and thoroughly equipped, leaving no stone unturned, fully furnished and whatever is required is supplied for every good work, whether it is an act or deed that is excellent and beneficial and useful and honorable and upright. This is God’s will for us. Even as we pray, let’s ask the Lord to help us continue in these things and be thoroughly equipped. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you for your word. What a privilege you’ve given us to have access to your word, to handle and read your word and all that the word accomplishes, I pray that it will accomplish in us today, as we receive and believe your word and live by your word. Equip us thoroughly as servants of the most high God, in Jesus’s matchless name we pray, Amen.
