Greetings and thank you for the opportunity to come to you today and spend this time with you in God’s word and prayer. This week, we are talking about declaring the word, we are just reminding ourselves. If you’ve been part of All People church, this is something we constantly encourage people and remind people often of and this is coming as another reminder of what we always do, that we must declare the word of God. In the Old Testament passage in Deuteronomy chapter 30, verses 11 to 14, God is teaching His people something very important. He says, ‘For this commandment which I command you today is not too mysterious for you, nor is it far off.’ That means, the word I’m giving you is not something very difficult to understand or far away. ‘It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will ascend into heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.’ What God is saying is, my word is there, it is in your mouth and heart. It is in your heart for you to believe it. It is in your mouth for you to say it. When you believe it and say it, you have my word right there next to you and you can go forward and do it and experience the rich blessing of His word. What is so interesting is that apostle Paul quotes this passage in Romans chapter 10. He says the righteousness of faith speaks in line with this principle, that means we, who have received righteousness through faith, he is talking about us in Romans chapter 10, verses 6 to 10. We speak in line to these principles; we are also engaging and applying this principle. The word is near us and then he says, we don’t say who is going to bring Jesus from heaven or who is going to raise Him up from the dead? No! We have got the word. So, what do we do? We believe that word in our heart and we confess/ declare that word with our mouth. He says, when you believe it in your heart, it brings righteousness, it positions you in the right place/ standing before God. When you confess/ declare that word, it brings salvation, you experience the work of God in your life. So, Paul is giving us additional insight. He says, when you believe that word, you are putting yourself right where God wants you to be, in a place of righteousness and then when you say that word, you are positioning yourself to receive the fulfillment of that word and experience the work of God. So, understand the importance of it. Don’t speak hopelessness, don’t speak despair, oh God, it is so far away, how is He going to come and work in my life? He has given you His word, believe it and speak it, declare His word. Let’s pray, Father, we ask you will help us believe your word and speak your word knowing that as we do so, we will see your salvation and your work in our lives, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
