Greetings and once again a joy and delight to be able to come to you and spend these few moments in God's word and prayer. This week, we are talking about the tabernacle of Moses and we are looking at different pieces of that tabernacle and trying to gain a little insight on what that means for us spiritually in the New Testament, recognizing that the tabernacle/ temple in the Old was only a shadow/ representation of the heavenly and the spiritual in which we as New Testament believers are actually engaging in during our times of worship towards God. So, in the tabernacle of Moses, there was the outer court as we said yesterday and there were two acts of worship taking place in the outer court- one was the brazen altar or the bronze altar of sacrifice and right after that was the bronze washbasin which contained water and the priests would go and use that water to cleanse themselves before they went further in to the Holy place to do the other things that they would normally do. That is speaking to us obviously of cleansing, of cleansing from sin through the blood of Jesus Christ and also as the book of Hebrews chapter 10, verse 19 says, ‘it is a cleansing of our hearts from an evil conscience.’ Meaning it is not only the cleansing of sin but the cleansing of our being through the word of God and the work of the Holy Spirit. So, there is a cleansing of the blood which washes away our sin and the cleansing of the word of God and the work of His Spirit to clear our conscience and to declare ourselves, make us completely free as we prepare to enter in to the very presence of God. So, in the tabernacle, the priests wash themselves, cleanse themselves with water in preparation to go in to the Holy place and to do their ministry. In the New Testament, we draw upon the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus and the power of His word, to cleanse our mind from an evil conscience that means from anything that would condemn us, tell us we are unworthy and the power of the Holy Spirit who gives us that confidence to call God, Abba Father. So, the cleansing is not only the removing of sin, but the removing of anything that will prevent us from worshipping God freely. So, that is the bronze washbasin, speaking to us of cleansing. So, as we move into worship God, that is another important thing we do. We receive the power of the blood, the word of God and the work of the Spirit so that when we get in to worship God, we can worship with a clear conscience, freely, without any sense of guilt, shame or condemnation.

Let us pray, Father, we thank you for the insights we draw from the scriptures and as we come before you today to worship, to offer our sacrifices to you, to glorify you, we thank you for the blood that has cleansed us from all sin. Thank you for the word of God that cleanses our conscience and thank you for the Holy Spirit who fills us with confidence so we can call God, Abba Father, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
