Greetings and we want to thank you for the opportunity to spend these few moments today with you, as we journey through the word of the Lord and we are just giving it to us in small portions day after day. We want to bring our attention to the fact that the promise of God comes to us in the midst of the dryness and the deadness that we see. We are talking about the incident in 1 Kings chapter 18, verse 1, where God sends the prophet Elijah and he sends him to Ahab and He says, ‘Go and tell Ahab, I will send rain on the earth.’ And in verse 41, Elijah says to Ahab, ‘Go and eat and drink for there is the sound of abundance of rain.’ Can you imagine, Ahab being the king of the land, 3 years of no rain, obviously, you can imagine, there must have bene tremendous pressure on him, how is he going to handle things in his kingdom, where people are suffering, there is dryness and deadness. In the midst of such a situation, the word of the Lord comes, ‘there is the sound of abundance of rain, I will send rain.’ Today, in the midst of the dryness and deadness of our life situation, there is the promise of God, the promise of God in the written scriptures, the word of God and there is the promise of God that maybe specific to our situations, brought to us by a prophetic word or by the inward witness of the Holy Spirit, where the Holy Spirit is telling you in your spirit, your time has come, the time for your promise has come, the time for the move of God has come, the time for a fresh wind of the Spirit has come, the time for the outpouring of the Spirit of God has come. Whatever it is, in the dryness and deadness of your situation, the promise of God is available. The important thing for us is to receive the word of promise. It is one thing to know that there is a promise in the bible that is relevant to your situation, but it is another thing to say, ‘God I am taking that promise in relation to my situation, I am taking a hold of that.’ For instance, if there is sickness, it is one thing to know that the bible says that God is Jehovah Rapha, the Lord forgives all our sins and heals all our diseases or by the stripes of Jesus, we have been healed. It is one thing to know that it is in the bible but it is another thing for you to say, God, I am taking hold of that word, it is for me now, this promise is coming to pass in my life, it is for me and I am taking a hold of that. That is what I want to encourage us to do, that your blessing is coming, that this is the time for you to take a hold of the promise of God in relation to your dry and dead situation, whatever it is, take a hold of the word, that is in the written scriptures, or something that the Spirit of God is quickening in your heart. Take hold of that, your blessing is coming, it is time for you to take a hold of that promise. Don’t let the dryness and deadness of your situation dictate your expectation. Let the promise of God be your expectation. The word of the Lord has come to you, I will send rain, there is the sound of the abundance of rain, what are you going to do with that promise and word? Get a hold of it, say, God my blessing is coming, it is time for my blessing. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you, that as people hear this word, you stir up expectation in their hearts, and you stir them up to take a hold of your holy word, your word which is forever settled in heaven, your word which will not return to you void, the time for the fulfillment of your promise has come. Stir up our hearts to take hold of your word, thank you, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
