Welcome to Living Supernaturally. We hope you’re doing well. Today, as we look into God’s word, we see that God has invited us to live a supernatural life. We have been exploring the topic of a normal Christian. What does it mean to be a normal Christian and what are the different aspects of a normal Christian’s life? Today, we see as we look into God’s word, for a Christian, it is normal to live a life - loving and serving God’s people. When we look at John chapter 13, verses 34 and 35, this is the Lord speaking and He says, ‘A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you.’ A very challenging and inspiring statement. The Lord says it’s a commandment, which means it is not an option for you to try and give up half way. The Lord is saying, a new commandment I give you that you love one another. He qualifies it by saying, as I have loved you. So, He gives a standard to the kind of love that we ought to have in order to love one another. It is a difficult standard and He says, as I have loved you. By this, all will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another. The Lord is saying, this is the standard and this is what you ought to do and this is a new commandment that I give you. So, when we look at the love of God, we see that it is an unconditional, ‘in spite of’ love. It is not a ‘because of’ love, it is an ‘in spite of’ love. That is the kind of love and standard we ought to love others with. He is saying, if we live this kind of a normal Christian life, then by this, all will know that you are indeed my disciples. People will know that we are the disciples of the Lord Jesus, if you have this kind of love for one another. Hebrews chapter 13, verse 16 says, ‘But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.’ We see that it is God’s will for us to live like this, to live a sacrificial life where we do good and to share and God is well pleased when we live such a life. So, the goodness of God is indeed revealed through the disciple which melts the hardness of hearts and causes them to really draw near and open their eyes and see and acknowledge that yes these are the disciples of the Lord Jesus. Shall we pray?

Father, we thank you that you have poured out your love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. We have your love, to love others with and we know that it is impossible to do this on our own but with you, all things are possible. Today, enable us to live up to this standard, obey this command and so we ask this in your precious name, Amen.
