The Future Is Better (Daily Devotional)

Greetings and we trust that you’ve enjoyed each day’s devotional this week, as we meditated on a few insights from the word of God on healing after abuse or trauma. As we wrap us this week’s devotionals, I want to remind us of what the Bible tells us on what the Holy Spirit does for us. The presence of the Holy Spirit ensures that the future is always greater and better. In Isaiah chapter 61, verse 3, part of what the anointing makes available to us is this, the prophet Isaiah said, ‘He consoles those who mourn in Zion, He gives them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord that He maybe glorified.’ Then in verse 7, he says, ‘Instead of your shame you shall have double honor, and instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore, in their land they shall possess double.’ Just to quickly summarize what the prophet Isaiah is saying that because of the anointing and the Holy Spirit, this is what God will do in our lives. He will give us beauty for ashes, so when we go through that, when we’ve gone through that abuse or trauma, our life can be brought to ashes so to speak. It is sometimes completely destroyed, but God can give beauty for our ashes. God can bring joy where there has been so much of mourning, sorrow, and pain. God can give double honor when there has been shame and rejoicing instead of confusion, God can turn these things around. He will do that by His Holy Spirit. So, what we have to do is just welcome the Holy Spirit and say Lord, do this in me and see yourself beautiful, see yourself whole, see yourself the way you would be if everything was perfect, see yourself doubly honored, see yourself doubly blessed because that is what God can do and is doing in you, by His Holy Spirit. The future is better, envision it, believe it, and receive it. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you, that you are the God who gives us wholeness and healing for all the abuse and all the trauma, we may have experienced. Thank you for the anointing of your Holy Spirit that brings complete wholeness, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
