Hello everyone, what a joy it is to be speaking about the blood of Jesus. Let's continue to see
what the blood means to us and what the blood has done for us. Acts chapter 20 and verse 28,
‘therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made
you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.’ So, in
this scripture, we understand that the church of the Lord Jesus Christ is simply referring to the
believers. Every believer who is part of this fellowship or community, body of Christ and is
made possible because of the sacrifice of Jesus. So, this church or the believers were purchased
by the blood of Jesus. Now when we look at the Old Testament, we read about the concept of
redemption, where there is a price that needs to be paid as a ransom to set a slave free. In the
same way, what Jesus has done for us is that He has set us free. We were slaves of sin; we were
slaves of Satan but Jesus has delivered us. He has brought us out. The picture of how the
children of Israel were brought out of Egypt, Jesus has brought us out. And how did He do that?
He did it by purchasing us with His own blood. While animals were a part of the practices of the
temple, we know that the perfection that God wanted was only in the blood of Jesus. And
which is why His blood is that one perfect offering after which no animal sacrifice is ever
required. And so, we see that Jesus by shedding His own blood has bought us and so the blood
of Jesus became the ransom for us through which now we belong to the kingdom of God. And
so, you and I, can declare over our lives that we no longer belong to the oppression of satan
and his demons. We have been set free, we are victorious and we can now live in a right
relationship with God and we can live for the purpose of God. As we continue to consider
regarding our purchase, we also see that the blood of Jesus has become our protection. In 1
Corinthians chapter 5 and verse 7 we read, ‘therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may
be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed, Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed
for us.’ Christ is called as the Passover. If we recall and we look at Exodus chapter 12 that was
the time when the children of Israel passed over from Egypt and they escaped the angel of
death and the reason why they did so was because of the blood of the Passover lamb. We
notice that Jesus has become the Passover lamb for us. The Passover lamb protected the
children of Israel back then and today it is the blood of Jesus that protects us from the enemy,
from the avengers. So, we can stand bold. Revelation chapter 12 and verse 11, also talks about
how we overcome by the blood of Jesus. So, the blood of Jesus is our protection. Let's pray
together, Father, we thank you that we no longer belong to the kingdom of darkness but we
belong to the kingdom of our Lord Jesus and that we are more than conquerors. We overcome
sin, we overcome sickness and we overcome satan. Lord, we thank you for your hand of
protection because Jesus Christ is our Passover. We thank you and worship you, in Jesus’ name
we pray, Amen.
