Greetings and thank you for joining us today to spend a few minutes in the word and prayer. We've been talking about the believer's authority and today, we're going to look at what the Lord Jesus said in John the 14th chapter, verses 12-4, Jesus said, "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; And greater works than these, he will do because I go to my Father. And whatever you ask in my name that I will do that the Father may be glorified in the son. If you ask anything in my name, I will do it.’ Now these are very powerful words of Jesus. Remember Jesus is speaking these words to His disciples during His earthly ministry before He went to the cross. He's speaking about those who believe in Him. So, He's really talking about you and me as well. He says those who believe in me, regardless of what time, which nation, which part of the globe, all of us who believe in Jesus, He said the works He did, we will do and greater works. What were the works that Jesus did? You and I are familiar with it as we read through the gospels. The way He healed the people, the miracles He did, He turned water to wine, He multiplied loaves and fish and He fed the people, He helped people solve their problems, there was a coin in the mouth of a fish, that's so unusual, all kinds of miracles. He cast out demons; He set people free etc. When John says there are so many miracles that Jesus did, we didn't record all of them, meaning there are so many more things that Jesus did that we don't even know because it's not recorded for us. Jesus said, the works that I do you will also do and He said because I go to the Father. Now think about that, what happened? Jesus died on the cross, He removed sin, He broke the power of sin and satan, He conquered hell and the grave through His resurrection and He ascended into heaven, He's seated on the right hand of God and the Bible says He's been given a name that is above every other name. Jesus said, "You and I get to use that all powerful name." And seated at the right hand of the Father, He has sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in us. So, all of that put together is going to enable the believer to do the works that Jesus did and even greater works. And then Jesus goes on in verses 13 and 14 to tell us one of the ways we will do it. He said, "Whatever you ask in my name, I'll do it." Now that word ‘ask’ does mean asking in prayer, but it also means to ask as in declaring. So, it's not only when we pray, we use His name, we pray to the Father, but we also ask as in declaring for something to be done. And He says, "Whatever you declare in my name to be done, I will do it." We ask the Father, that's in verse 13, ‘whatever you ask the Father in my name, He will give it to you. And whatever you declare in my name, I will do it.’ And that's how we're going to do the works that Jesus did. So, think about the authority that's been vested in you. Think about that in any situation. When you face troubles, problems, storms in your life, you rise up and in the name of Jesus, you declare what you want to see done. Tell the storms to calm, tell the works of the devil to seize, tell satan to take his dirty hands off of the works that are going on, tell and declare peace to come in, declare the miracle of God to take place in the name of Jesus. And Jesus said, "I will do it." Let's pray, Father, we ask that we will have the faith, the courage to use the authority of Jesus’ name and to declare things to be done here on earth, to declare the miracles, the healings, the deliverances, the provisions of God, the protection of God, the divine interventions of God, to declare them in the mighty name of Jesus and to see them happen, we thank you, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
