Hello friends, trust that you're all doing well. We're talking about change to grow. There's always some amount of changing that needs to take place for us to experience growth and we're talking about some key things that will help us accommodate change. Today, I'd like to speak to us about having a teachable heart, a heart that is willing to learn new things. I'd like to read for us from James chapter one and verse 21 it says, ‘therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.’ Receive with meekness the implanted word. So, when the word of God is spoken to us, when the word of God is released to us, this is what God expects from us. He expects a heart which is good ground. He expects a heart that is ready to receive the word. He expects a heart which will accept the word with meekness or meekness simply means humility, where we say that yes, I have need of this new thing that God is doing, I have need of this new truth that God is bringing into my life. So, it's an open heart that says God, I'm willing to learn, I'm willing to learn some more. Us as believers, many of us we have this walk with the Lord, maybe even for years reading the bible and studying scripture, sometimes we can get stuck in a place where we say that I have read this passage umpteen number of times and there's nothing more coming out of this passage. Whereas that's not true, God's word is so deep that with every word we can spend hours and still not use up the revelation that it contains. Only a meek heart is able to recognize and receive of what God is releasing through His word. So, today friends, I just want to encourage us, let's have a teachable heart, let's be those people like the Bereans in Acts chapter 17, we read about a community of believers who are fair minded and very, very interested in searching the scriptures. They were searching the scriptures to learn new things, they were searching the scriptures to confirm that whatever was being spoken to them, was truly the word of God and that's the heart God is looking for. He's looking for a heart that will learn, He's looking for a heart that is meek to receive the word of God. Let's pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you that we have this opportunity to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord, Jesus Christ. God, as you unfold yourself to us, we pray that we will have hearts that will receive your word, give us teachable hearts, let every pride be done away with and even as we do that, thank you that we will grow in you, we give you all the glory and praise, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
