Daily Devotional church in Bangalore
by Ps Ashish Raichur

Greetings and thank you so much for joining us today. I trust you have been having a good week and here we are on Friday, coming to the end of the week. We have been talking about humility, we’ve summed it up in this phrase- step lower, get higher. As we humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, He will exalt us in due time. The scriptures are pointing us to Philippians chapter 2, verses 5 through 11, to the perfect example set for us by our Lord Jesus. Paul says, take on the same mind of Christ, let this mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus. He talks about the whole process that Jesus went through, that though He was God, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. He took on the form of a bondservant. Though He was God, He came to serve and Jesus in Mathew chapter 20 said, ‘the Son of Man has come not to be served but to serve and that is very powerful. Think about it, that the Son of God, He came into this world and He said, I’ve come to serve you. What does it mean to serve? It means to do what will benefit somebody else. Do something that serves somebody else’s need, that serves somebody else’s wants, a void they can’t fill, you come and meet that, you are serving/ helping/ assisting. Jesus said, I have come to serve, not to be served. In that process, when you get down there, to do things intentionally to bless lives, to bless other people, to do what you can, you are positioning yourself to be lifted up by the Father, by God Himself. In your place of work, be benevolent, share information, help others, teach, impart, give, do what you can do to strengthen them, empower. You may say, that will put me behind them, not necessarily, you apply the principles of the word of God and the word of God will work in your life and God Himself will make sure that as you serve, He will lift you up. He is who least will be made first. God will make sure that happens. All we need to do is to practice His word. So, step lower and get higher. Let’s pray, Father, we ask that you will give us the heart of a servant, to serve people, to bless their lives, to administer to their needs, to fill the void in their lives knowing that as we serve, you will lift us up. You are the rewarder, you are the one who sees it and you reward us for it, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
