Hello and welcome back, welcome to Living Supernaturally. This is our daily devotion, where we take time to look into God's word, learn from God's word and apply God's word daily in our lives. Today, we are looking at 2 Timothy chapter 1, we've been studying the letters of Paul to Timothy. It's rich in instruction, rich in practical wisdom and also has so much of revelation, inspired by the Holy Spirit for us. We're looking at 2 Timothy chapter 1, verses 6 and 7, ‘therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.’ Paul is by way of reminder which means that he has already address this to Timothy and he's saying by way of reminder, I remind you again to stir up the gift of God which is in you. If you look at the first epistle of Paul to Timothy, in 1 Timothy he mentions this, don't neglect the gift but rather use the gift. Here, he's reminding Timothy again, Timothy, I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you. Now that's something for us to ask ourselves today, what are those gifts that God has placed in us? Have we received the gifts of the Spirit in us? Maybe at one point we walked in these gifts, be it gift of tongues, interpretation of tongues or prophecy, word of knowledge, word of wisdom, gift of faith, healings, miracles, any of these. Maybe we walked in that confidently and with humility at one point but now we are neglecting it, maybe people have said something, maybe because we fear public opinion, maybe we fear certain things, fear of failure maybe. But Paul's words to Timothy come to us, reminding us to stir up those gifts and to walk in those gifts. He's saying stir up the gift of God. Verse 7, for God has not given us the spirit of fear, the fear that you might experience, fear of public opinion, fear of failure, fear of maybe being mocked or ridiculed, fear of persecution or whatever. This fear, God says has not been given from God, it does not proceed from God. God has not given us a spirit of fear and he goes on to say what has God given us? The spirit of power, of love and of a sound mind, it means a well-disciplined mind. The Greek word talks about that a well-disciplined mind. So, God has not given us a spirit of fear. So, if we are experiencing fear especially in this context, in the use of these gifts, God has not given it, it does not come from Him. So, if it does not come from God and if God has not given us, we can reject it, we can ignore it. Instead of neglecting the gift, we can actually ignore and neglect that fear and it is a reminder for us to stir up and walk in the gift. Shall we pray? Father, we thank you for this reminder, we thank you for this encouragement that you are with us and this reminder that you have not given us a spirit of fear, so we have no business entertaining it because it does not come from you and so we reject it, we lay it aside and we refuse to entertain it and even as we choose to walk in the gifts that you've given us, we thank you, in Jesus’s matchless name we pray, Amen.
