Spiritual Weapons (Daily Devotional)

Hello everyone, welcome. It is great to join you once again and study God’s word. We’ve been talking about overcoming our enemy, satan. Today, I want to focus on spiritual weapons. Scriptures tell us that God has given us spiritual weapons to overcome the enemy. In Ephesians chapter 6, there is a description of the armor of God and the various parts that can protect us against attacks but then there are other weapons as well that we can use against the enemy. Let’s talk a little bit about the blood of Jesus. The blood of Jesus helps us overcome satan. We read in Revelation chapter 12, verse 11 that ‘they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb.’ Why is the blood of Jesus so powerful? The blood of Jesus is powerful because it has done a powerful work for us. We see that the blood of Jesus has cleansed us from all unrighteousness and sin. The blood of Jesus justifies us and reconciles us to God. The blood of Jesus has brought us near to our God. It is the blood of Jesus that has sealed the new covenant for us. The blood of Jesus gives us the boldness to enter into the presence of God, the holiest place. The blood of Jesus helps us overcome the enemy. These are but a few things that the blood of Jesus has done for us. As we consider what the blood has done for us, we know that the blood has given us victory and satan dislikes hearing about the work of the blood of Jesus which is why, when we talk about the blood of Jesus and what the blood of Jesus has accomplished for us, he doesn’t like it. It is a weapon that we can use against the enemy. With the full knowledge of the power of the blood and the work of the blood; when we begin to describe what the blood has done for us, we can walk in victory against satan and his demons. The othe weapon that we can use against satan is the name of Jesus. We know that Jesus gave His name to His disciples and we see in Mark chapter 16, He said, ‘in my name, you will cast out demons.’ The name of Jesus is powerful. We know that the name of Jesus is the most excellent name. It is the name above any heavenly creature, the name of Jesus is most honorable and worthy and this has been given to our Lord Jesus Christ and we know that the name of Jesus is a name in which there is forgiveness, miracles, demons flee in the name of Jesus and there is healing in His name. So, the name of Jesus carries power and God has given it to every single believer. As we use the power of the name of Jesus and the power of the blood of Jesus, no demon can stand before us. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you for these spiritual weapons that make us overcomers. We praise you that we are victorious and you have done everything that needed to be done, the finished work of the cross. We just stand anchored in the finished work of the cross. Help us to enforce your victory in every area of our lives, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
