Greetings and thank you for the opportunity to come to you today, spend these few moments in God’s word and prayer. This week, we are talking about sowing and reaping. We want to consider some of the things we can sow. What are the seeds that we can sow? Yesterday, we talked about sowing seeds of kindness, mercy, generosity and goodness. Today, we want to talk about sowing to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit, to spiritual things. This is contained for us in Galatians chapter 6, verses 6 to 10, ‘Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches. Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.’ These verses are packaged by talking about doing good to other people, sowing to the people material things, sowing to those who are ministering to us, sowing material things to people who are of the household of faith. It is sandwiched between those two. What I want to zero in on is verse 8 which says if you sow to the Spirit, you will reap of the Spirit. If you sow towards spiritual things, you will receive benefit of that which not only have benefit in this life but for eternity. So, how do you sow to the Spirit? For example, when you pray, you are sowing to the Spirit. You meditate in God’s word; you are sowing to the Spirit. When you are listening to the Holy Spirit and being led by Him, you are sowing to the Spirit. Instead of sowing to the flesh, if we sow to the Spirit, investing your time, energy in spiritual things, it says, you will of the Spirit reap, you will reap back from the Spirit, things that will bless you in this life and also in the life to come. In that context he says, let’s not get weary in doing good. Sometimes, when you are sowing to the Spirit, it seems like what is the outcome in this? I spent an hour in prayer, what is the outcome of it? I spent an hour in worshipping God, what is the benefit of it? Sometimes, sowing to the Spirit may not seem to have any immediate effect in the natural, it is true because you are sowing into a different realm, into the realm of the Spirit, but the bible says, you will reap of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit will bring back benefits into your spiritual life which will then bless you in everything you do. Understand, if you sow to the Spirit, you will reap of the Spirit. Don’t get weary of doing good, sow into the Spirit because in due time, you will reap your harvest. Harvest always comes at the appointed time and God is watching over that. He will bring back to you all that you’ve sown to the Spirit, multiplied. There is a blessing coming. Let’s pray, Father, we ask that you help us sow into spiritual things, into things of the Spirit, investing there knowing that we will of the Spirit reap things both for this life and the life to come. Help us not to get weary in doing this. We know that you will bring us our harvest in its appointed time, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
