Daily Devotional church in Bangalore
by Ps Ashish Raichur

Greetings and thank you for joining us this week, as we consider what the bible teaches us about sowing and reaping. We are looking at few scriptures, of course, there is much more that the scriptures talk about this principle. We’ve talked about this whole concept of sowing and reaping, seed time and harvest and what they all imply and today and the next few days, we want to talk about what are some of the things that you and I can sow. We can sow kindness. Jesus put it like this in Mathew chapter 5, verses 39 to 42, ‘do not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also. And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.’ Very radical thoughts and teachings here. He says, don’t fight an evil person. This person is trying to actually take away from you, he is being unfair, trying to extort, trying to force you to give more than what you should be giving. But Jesus says, if you meet such a person, if he asks you to go one mile, go with him two. If he asks you for your tunic, let him have your coat. If he tries to get a little bit from you, let him have, why? How can you do this? What is the reasoning behind it?? The reasoning is this it is more blessed to give than receive. When you release something, even in a kind of situation like this when somebody is exhorting and trying to take away from you, you say, I know what you are doing is unjust but I’ll be kind to you, I’ll overcome your evil with good, you are being evil, mean, unjust, unfair, extorting but I will be kind and repay kindness for your injustice. You are positioning yourself to receive a blessing and a multiplied return on what you are releasing form your hand. So, think about that, sow kindness even in a moment when people are being unfair. Of course, you can sow kindness when people are being good to you, you just be good to them and as you sow kindness, there is always a return. Hebrews chapter 6, verse 10 says, ‘For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.’ So, especially when you minister and show kindness to God’s people, the bible says, God won’t forget it. He is the one who is going to bring back the blessing and repay you. Sow random acts of kindness, just bless people and there is a harvest coming as you do that. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you for all that you’ve taught us in your word. Help us to be doers of your word, practice it, show and sow kindness. We know that as we sow mercy, we will reap mercy in abundance according to your word, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
