Hello and welcome to Living Supernaturally, we are so glad that you could do this. We’ve been
studying the word of God together and every time, it is an encouragement and different facets
of God’s word. It is amazing the wisdom and power that is there in the word of God. We’ve
been looking at this whole theme of ‘seek and pursue.’ Today, we are looking specifically at this
instruction that is there in the word of God which is to seek justice. There are several places in
the bible where this is mentioned and we are going to look at a few of them. This is in Isaiah
chapter 1, verse 17, it says, ‘Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the
fatherless, Plead for the widow.’ What is justice? We know that justice is something that is a
favorable verdict when it comes to the rights and privileges of oneself or for someone. It
involves the rights of someone, the privileges of someone and when that is taken away, then
we say that there is injustice, that is not fair and right. It says, seek justice, seek to do what is
good, seek to bring in a favorable verdict and seek to bring in that because it involves the rights
and privileges of someone. Psalm chapter 33, verses 4 to 5 says, ‘For the word of
the Lord is right, and all His work is done in truth. He loves righteousness and justice; The earth
is full of the goodness of the Lord.’ When we see after justice and rebuke the oppressor, when
we defend the ones who are without any defense, when we plead for the case of the widow,
then we are doing something that God loves and is close to God’s heart. It says, God loves
righteousness and justice. James chapter 1, verse 27 says, ‘Pure and undefiled religion before
God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself
unspotted from the world.’ We see that this God has a strong sense of what is just and what is
not. In fact, justice flows from Him. As we as God’s people are instructed to seek justice, we are
seeking something which is close to His heart and is scriptural. In doing so, the expression of
seeking justice will be to rebuke the oppressor and we know that there is a spiritual battle and
enemy who is so real and we rebuke the oppressor. We also defend the fatherless, plead and
be the voice of hope and justice for the ones who do not have it. Today, think about it and even
as we go through this day, let’s look for opportunities to do right and seek justice in all our
affairs. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you for this instruction. Thank you that this is something
close to your heart to seek justice. We pray for the wisdom, anointing, leading and strength we
require to do this in a way that honors you and brings liberty to people so that justice might be
served. We give you all the praise and glory, in Jesus’ matchless name we pray, Amen.
