Hello everyone, thank you so much for staying tuned in to this devotional, as we study regarding humility. We’ve seen that God loves humility, He gives grace to those who walk with humility and God detests pride. Today, I want us to be encouraged even more because the word of God tells us that walking in humility has its rewards. I’m going to read out a couple of scriptures for us. Firstly, Proverbs chapter 11, verse 2, it says, ‘When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom.’ The humble have wisdom, they will continue to grow in wisdom. We also look at Proverbs chapter 22 and verse 4, it says, ‘By humility and the fear of the LORD Are riches and honor and life.’ When God invites us to have a certain attitude which will translate into a certain behavior and a lifestyle, there is a reason for that and God always causes us to walk in the path of righteousness that brings increase and blessing upon our lives. We see in this very passage, Proverbs chapter 22 and verse 4 that God wants to add good things to our lives. We will receive riches, honor and life, the scripture says. As we consider the Message version, just for us to understand this in an easier way, it states, ‘The payoff for meekness and Fear-of-GOD is plenty and honor and a satisfying life.’ God blesses the humble with a satisfied life. It is quite contrary to what the world tells us. The world tells us to be proud, to be go getters even if in the process we end up harming/ hurting people, that is the way the world goes for riches and honor and satisfaction but we see that God wants us to have these same things but take a very different path and that is the path of humility. When we walk in the path of humility, it is not a path of loss but a path of increase and blessing, it is a path of honor and one of life. So, let’s take the path of humility. I have another scripture here form Luke chapter 14 and verse 11, it says, ‘For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”’ Exaltation comes when we humble ourselves. Exaltation comes when we surrender ourselves to God and one must choose to walk in humility before God and at the right time, God will cause us to be exalted wherever we are. I am reminded of lucifer in the bible, we see how God had blessed him with so many skills and a position, but what brought him down? It was pride. Pride caused him to lose everything; while he wanted to be exalted, he was humbled. But when we humble ourselves, God will exalt us. Let’s walk in humility. Let’s pray together, Father, we thank you for opening our eyes on the rewards of humility. Enable us to walk in this way and see the fulfillment of your word. Thank you because your word is true, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
