Greetings and thank you once again for the opportunity to come to you today and spend this time with you in God’s word and in prayer. It’s always a joy to be able to spend these few moments in God’s word and consider something from His word that will enrich our lives. This week, we are talking about biblical decision making and considering different aspects of how to make God glorifying, good quality, people blessing decisions. Today, we want to talk about the renewed mind. The bible tells us to use our mind in the things of life. In Ephesians chapter 5, verses 10 and 17, ‘finding out/ proving what is acceptable/ pleasing to the Lord.’ Verse 17 says, ‘do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.’ That means I’m putting my mind to work, I’m proving or testing out, it is almost like you are testing something in a lab and you are testing out what is pleasing to God, you are finding out and you are understanding/ putting your mind to work, what is the will of God. Sometimes, as believers, we have the wrong idea that if you want to do God’s will, you shouldn’t use your mind. No! We do use our mind, God designed our mind, He gave us an ability to reason and our intelligence so we put it to work but it is a renewed mind, that means, it is a mind that has been reprogrammed to understand the ways and thoughts of God. That is what the bible tells us to do, Romans chapter 12, verse 2, it tells us to renew our mind, it is not a mind that is conformed to the world but it is a mind that has simulate the ways and thoughts of God and thinking with that renewed mind. We are processing information and proving things with that renewed mind, a mind that understands the ways and thoughts of God. How do you do that with the word of God? God’s word comes into our mind and then our mind is renewed, we begin to learn the ways and thoughts of God. So, all the information that comes to us, we process it with a renewed mind and then we go about making our decision. The renewed mind is different from a natural mind or a mind that is programmed according to the ways of this world. For example, in one situation, a mind that is programmed to the ways of this world may say, don’t take a step of faith, that is illogical, but a renewed mind understands what it means to take a step of faith and trust God even though that step of faith maybe outside the box of reason. I will talk about that tomorrow. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you that you’ve given us access to your ways and thoughts through your word, that we can reprogram/ retrain our thinking to be aligned to your ways and thoughts, process information with a renewed mind and make decision with a renewed mind, help us to do that, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
