Greetings and thank you for the opportunity to come to you today and spend these few moments with you and to share some insights on overcoming wrong thoughts. The bible teaches us and the apostle Paul wrote this in 2 Corinthians chapter 10, verses 3 to 5, he said, ‘For though we walk in the flesh (that means we live natural lives), we do not war according to the flesh (we don’t fight with natural means). For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments (imaginations) and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.’ Paul is really addressing things about the mind in this passage and he is telling us there are things called strongholds, imaginations, reasoning and thoughts. He is saying, we demolish these strongholds, things that are contrary to God and have taken deep roots in our minds, we also bring reasonings, arguments, imaginations and thoughts, we bring them all into subjection to the Lordship of Christ. In other words, for us to overcome wrong thoughts, we need to have this happen in our minds, where these strongholds are demolished, where all our reasonings, our imaginations, our thinking, our thoughts are brought in subjection to the Lordship of Jesus. So, we must do that, God has given us the weapons to do that. It is not like God is going to come and think for me, no! God has given me the weapons by which I can take full charge of my mind and I can deal with the negativity, wrong thoughts that may have occupied my mind sometimes, these wrong thoughts may have become a fortress in my mind, they are so occupied in my mind but God has given us the weapon of His word and the work that He has done for us on the cross to dismantle all of these things that seem so ingrained in our thought process and to free up our minds so that we can make sure that everything in our minds is under the Lordship of Jesus. So, take cation in your mind. The bible says, gird up the loins of your mind, which in other words is take action in your mind, don’t be passive, make sure that everything in your mind is brought to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Speak God’s word over your mind. Let’s pray, Father, we ask that you will help us reject anything, stronghold, augment, reasoning, imagination, thought that is not aligned to Jesus, get it out of our minds, keep our minds as holy ground, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
