Receiving God's Guidance - The God of Plan & Purpose (Daily Devotional)

Hello everyone and welcome to Living Supernaturally, the daily devotionals by All People's Church, where we take a few moments just to spend time in God's word to build our faith up and live a life that is fruitful for God's kingdom. This week, we're going to look at the theme on receiving God's guidance, where we want to see how God guides us every step of the way and how we can discover his guidance through the scriptures. Today, we just want to focus on God is a god of purpose and plan. Psalms chapter 33 verses 11 and 15, which says, "The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his hearts to all generations. He fashions their hearts individually; He considers all their works." The word ‘counsel’, the root word, can mean plan or purpose and so in verse 11, the plan of God is for all generation and in verse 15 he says, "His purpose, He fashions our hearts, He individually forms us, He individually considers all our works." This is just an amazing reminder that God has a plan and a purpose for each one of our lives. Not just for an entire generation, but for each one of us individually and we see this from the beginning. Genesis chapter 2, where He takes Adam, He forms Adam and He puts him in the garden to tend to it. So, He not only forms him, but He gives him a plan and a purpose. To Abraham, He says, "Leave and go into the land that I have promised for you." To Noah, He says, "Build me an ark." To Moses, He says, "Deliver my people from the Egyptians." To Peter, He says, "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men." So, God not only just calls us, not only just wants to have a relationship with us, but also has a plan and a purpose. So, as we live this life, when we follow Jesus, when we put our faith in God, know that we don't only just have a relationship with Him; He puts His plan, His purpose in our lives. Let's pray, Father, we just thank you for this reminder that you are the God of plan and purpose. Lord, we remind ourselves that not only we have a relationship with you, which is an amazing privilege, but also that you have a plan, you have a purpose for each one of our lives, that before the foundation of the world, that you knew us, you knit us in our mother's womb and you have placed a plan, you have placed a purpose. All the days of our life are written in your book and I pray, Lord, that each one of us, every day, will realize that we are here on this earth not by accident, but to pursue your plan and your purpose, in Jesus' mighty name, we pray, Amen.
