Daily Devotional church in Bangalore
by Ps Ashish Raichur
Greetings and thank you for joining us today for our time in the word and prayer. It's always a joy to be able to come to you and spend these few moments with you in God's word. This week, we're talking about receiving your healing and we are going back to those familiar scriptures to remind us that the Lord is our healer. Today, we look at Psalm chapter 103, verses 1, 2 and 3, it says, "Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases." I'll read verse 4. "Who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies." The psalmist in this psalm is calling upon himself, is awakening himself and every part of his being to bless God, to just glorify Him, to thank Him and then he says, "Don't forget His benefits. Don't forget the good things that God gives to His people." You know, there's nothing wrong in us knowing and recognizing that our God gives benefits or He gives good things, He gives blessings to His people. The Bible tells us in Psalm chapter 84, verse 11, it says, "The Lord God is a sun and a shield. He will give grace and glory, and no good thing will he withhold from those who walk uprightly." So, God is not the one who withholds things from us. He is the one who gives good things to those who walk before Him uprightly. And what are some of His benefits? Right here in Psalm chapter 103, he says, God forgives all our sins, and God heals all our diseases. He's placing the healing of our diseases in the same statement or in the same way that we receive forgiveness for our sins. Notice he says, He forgives all our sins, and that's something you and I understand. We know that we go to God, we ask for forgiveness, and we receive forgiveness by simple faith, knowing that God is the one who forgives all our sins. Now, on that same token, we go to God and say, "Lord, you're the God who heals all our diseases." That means every sickness, every disease, God is the healer. So, we must be absolutely sure that God is not the author of sickness and disease. Sickness and disease doesn't come from Him. It's in this fallen world, it's in a world that fell into sin, and then subsequently saw these things. It was not in the perfect world that God created, neither is it going to be in the new heavens and the new earth that God puts in place. So, we can be absolutely sure that our God is not the author of sickness and disease. Instead, He's the one who heals all sickness and disease and that's why we seek Him to be the healer for whatever sickness and disease we may be facing. So, today, with that simple confidence, the same simple faith by which we received the forgiveness for our sins, with that same simple faith, we go and say, "Lord, I receive healing for all diseases." Whatever it might be, if you're suffering in your body, in your mind, your emotions, the same faith with which you received forgiveness for sins, that's the same faith that receives healing for all diseases. So, let's pray and receive together, Father, we thank you for the benefits you give your people. You forgive all our sins, you heal all our diseases and you crown us with your loving kindness and tender mercies. Father, I pray for those who are listening, crown their lives with your loving kindness and your tender mercies. Let your kindness and mercy come upon them and for those needing healing, let them experience your healing right now from all diseases, whatever it might be in their bodies that is hurting them, causing pain, let it leave in the mighty name of Jesus. Father, we receive all your benefits, we thank you, in Jesus' name, Amen.
