Daily Devotional church in Bangalore

Daily Devotions for Spirit Filled Living

God's Word is spiritual food and nourishment. The Bible uses many metaphors: bread, milk, meat, food, water, honey, seed, rain, light, lamp, gold, sword, etc. for itself. God's Word is the basis for our faith. It is God's power at work in our lives. As you receive God's Word expect to receive wisdom and guidance. Expect to be healed, delivered, transformed. Expect God's supernatural power to work miracles in your life. His Word never return void or unfulfilled.

Each daily devotion is about five minutes in duration. We have intentionally developed the daily devotions around a weekly theme. So there are seven days of daily devotions that focus on the theme and bring you insight, understanding and revelation from the Bible. Each week's theme is listed as a series. So you can listen to the current week's daily devotions or go to any previous theme/series that speaks to your present need.

You can watch the video or download and listen to the audio. Almost all daily devotions end with a prayer. You can access these from this page as well as from the Home page of this website.

All our daily devotions are also available on our free church App for you to listen on your mobile device. Download our free church App from App or Google Play stores. Search for "All Peoples Church Bangalore".

Hello and thank you for this wonderful opportunity to come to you today and spend these few moments in God’s word and pray with you. We are talking about marriage preparation, and it comes as a way of learning for those who are preparing for marriage and as a reminder for those of us who are already married, about what God has spoken and taught us in His word concerning marriage. We’ve been looking at Genesis chapter 2, and verse 24, and we will go to it once again today. In Genesis chapter 2, verse 24, the scripture tells us, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.’ We said that this scripture, although the subject here is the man, it equally applies to the woman because both the man and woman are entering into that married state or being married. So, everything we have said about the man, also applies to the woman. There is the leaving which we spoke about. There is the cleaving, the readiness to be joined together, then it says they shall become one flesh, meaning in a very practical way, one flesh, meaning in this natural world, they are going to become one. There is a sense of union, coming together of two lives, melding together of two individuals. Of course, it doesn’t mean that these individuals cease being individuals, they are two separate individuals of course, spirit, soul, and body, but in the way they journey through life for that point on, there is a coming together, there is a union and there is a oneness in everything. That is something we must prepare ourselves for. Sadly, in a world where there is so much of independence that is advocated, there is so much of self-reliance, self dependance that is promoted, this becoming one actually is very difficult thing for many people. It is a novel idea but to live it out in real life is something tremendously challenging for most people because we are so accustomed to independence, to living alone. We maybe in a crowd but we are independent, we make our own choices, we fight for our own rights, and we insist on our own way, and we think any form of yielding is a violation of our freedom, when it really is not. So, we don’t think in terms of yielding, accommodating, adjusting, adapting, surrender, those words and ideas are very foreign to us in today’s world, but marriage requires all of that. The becoming one of two individuals in practical ways means that we learn to adapt, we learn to celebrate differences, we learn to enjoy each other’s uniqueness and we celebrate that and that should draw us together, not drive us apart. It takes a certain amount of maturity; it takes a certain amount of understanding to celebrate difference and enjoy difference and to actually leverage our differences to bring us closer together. Remember, that is what marriage is, it is a journeying together, it is a becoming one flesh in very practical ways of two people who have been uniquely and differently designed by God, a man and a woman coming together in holy matrimony before God, making this journey of becoming one, in very practical ways. God empowers us to do that by His Spirit, by His word and the wisdom and understanding He gives. Be ready for such a journey. For those of us who are already married, that’s the journey we are on, let’s enjoy it. Let’s pray, Father, help us even as we journey or for those of us who are preparing for that journey. Give us the grace to learn how to be one with our spouse, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
