Greetings and thank you for joining us today on this daily devotional. This Christmas week, we’ve just been meditating on various titles, facets and aspects of Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. God who came in flesh, who took on human form and walked this earth 2000 years ago. In Hebrews chapter 1, verses 1 to 4, we have so many different titles about this Jesus and we have been reflecting on one each day this week. Today, I want to bring our attention to Hebrews chapter 1, verse 3, it says about this Jesus, ‘He had by Himself purged our sins.’ What did this Jesus do? He has purified our sins. As we meditate on the incarnate Son of God and think about Jesus, we will think about the various aspects of who He is, as revealed here in Hebrews chapter 1, verses 1 to 4, we also remember that it is this Jesus who purified us and cleansed us from our sins. We know how He did it. We know that He went to the cross and on the cross, He bore our sins in His own body, He took upon Himself the full and complete punishment, God’s judgment on the sins of all humanity, He bore it. It is beyond our comprehension, ability to articulate and ability to put down in words, the magnitude of what took place on the cross. When the sins all of the entire human race was placed upon Jesus and the judgement of God for all of those sins was placed upon Him, the sinless one, the perfect one, the God incarnate one, the God who became man and through that, He purified us of our sins so that today, through His death, burial, resurrection, ascension and because of what He did for us on the cross, we can say we are forgiven, cleansed, washed and made the righteousness of God in Christ because Jesus purified us of our sins. This Christmas, we take time to say thank you Lord for what you did in coming for us. Let’s pray, Lord, we thank you that you have purified our sins. Your name is Jesus our savior, the one who saves us from our sins. Thank you for what you did and making this possible, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
