Greetings and thank you for joining us today on our daily devotional. It is always a joy to come to you, share the word of God and spend a few moments in prayer. This week, we are reflecting on a few promises for God’s guidance in our lives, how God would lead us, guide us and teach us and how we could reach out to God through His word, to receive His guidance into our lives.

Today, we are going to look at two passages of scripture. Psalm chapter 119, verse 133, the psalmist prayed, ‘Direct my steps by Your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me.’ We are also going to look at Proverbs chapter 3, verses 5 and 6, it says, ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.’ The psalmist prays this prayer and asks the Lord to direct his steps by His word. Many times, when we need guidance, we put the bible in front of us, we pray a simple prayer, ‘Lord, direct my steps through your word, I’m going to read your word and I am asking you to direct my steps by your word.’ As we read the word, we follow the instruction given to us in Proverbs where we trust in the Lord with all our heart and we lean not to our own understanding. Of course, we have to use our own understanding, God is not saying not to use it, but we don’t entirely rely/ depend on it because we submit our understanding to the light of His word. So, He says, don’t lean on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him. So, as we are facing some important decisions that we have to make, we want guidance on how to handle situations, solve some problems, fix some situations, what do we do? It says, in all your ways, acknowledge Him. So, you go before God and say, Lord, I need your guidance. I’m faced with this situation, I need to know how to solve this problem, I need to know how to fix this, O God, I acknowledge you and I need you, this is what I’m thinking but I’m not going to lean on my own understanding but I’m going to acknowledge you. His promise is, He will direct your path and of course, how would He do it? The psalmist prayed, Lord, direct my path through your word. So, as we acknowledge His word, open it and listen to His word, He will direct our paths. He will tell us, teach us, show us and light our paths so we will know the right things to do, right way to go, right choice to make. He will guide us. So, let us take these scriptures, pray them through in our own lives and receive God’s guidance in the decisions we have to make.

Let’s pray, Father, we thank you that we can look to you to direct our paths, that you do direct our paths by your word and your word is truth and far greater than our understanding and we choose to acknowledge you, honor you and honor your word in all our ways. Lead us and direct us, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
