Greetings and thank you so much for joining us today on our daily devotional. This week, we are looking at a few scriptures that assure/ promise us of God’s financial provision in our lives, God supplying for our needs and making sure that we have all our needs met. We are encouraging ourselves with those promises. Today, I want us to look at two verses of scripture. In Deuteronomy chapter 8, verse 18, the scripture says, ‘And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.’ We will also look at Isaiah chapter 1, verse 19, ‘If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.’ Scriptures are teaching us that it is God who gives us the power to get wealth, that means it is God who puts within us the ability to make money, earn an income and more than an income, to receive wealth into our lives. In fact, Deuteronomy chapter 8, verse 18 says that God does it so that He may establish His covenant with us, meaning it is part of His covenant with us, it is part of His promise to us, it is part of His relationship with us, that He says, I will make sure that I give you the power/ ability/ means/ opportunities to get wealth. God says I will do that for you as part of my covenant. He says in Isaiah chapter 1, verse 19, if you are willing and obedient, that means if we are walking aligned to His will, obedient to His will, God says you will reap the good of the land. I am reminded of Joseph in the Old Testament, as we read through Genesis chapter 40 onwards, we see how once Joseph was elevated to becoming the prime minister of the land, Pharoah, the ruler of Egypt repeatedly says to Joseph, you enjoy the good of the land, you eat the best of the land. Even when Joseph’ family moved in to Egypt, he says, make sure they enjoy the best of the land. You can imagine how the best was provided for Joseph. God orchestrated it and He is the same God who can orchestrate things for you and me.
Let’s pray, Father, we thank you that you are the God who gives us the power to make wealth and you said you will do it as part of your covenant and will enable us to eat the good of the land. May we see that, may we walk in the good of the land and enjoy the good of the land even as you promised, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
