Daily Devotional church in Bangalore
by Ps Nancy Ramya

Hello everyone, it’s been great talking about worship and what true worship is and the kind of worship that God is looking for. Today, we want to talk a little bit about the presence of God. When we worship, God’s presence fills us and many of us have experienced this. It is a glimpse of heaven, we know that worship is going on continually in heaven and it never ceases and sometimes we feel that way that when we are worshipping, we don’t want it to end because God’s presence is so real and we can taste who He is. God is somebody who offers Himself fully to us through His covenant and when His presence comes, we get to experience in our spirit man and even in our soul and body, who God is and what He does. The presence of God is something that we must delight after. In James chapter 4 and verse 8, we are encouraged to ‘Draw near to God and He will draw near to us.’ As we are worshipping God, we know that His presence comes to us. We know of scriptures that say when we worship and praise Him, God is seated on those praises. His presence comes when we are worshipping and praising Him. In His presence, there is fullness of joy, we experience the joy of His presence. We experience many other things in His presence. There is peace in His presence, His power can be seen in His presence. God’s power that works in our lives and circumstances can be seen and felt in His presence, that is so important for us. As we worship God, what we are saying is that His presence comes to us, it ministers to our hearts, to our lives and that is something that is a need and a necessity as we relate with God in our relationship with Him. There is another wonderful passage where there was a manifest presence of God in 2 Chronicles chapter 5, verses 11 through 14, we see that when the temple was being dedicated and worship was raised up unto God, what happened is that the presence of God came and sat upon the people. I will read from verse 13, it says, ‘indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying: “For He is good, For His mercy endures forever,” that the house, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.’ The glory is nothing but the powerful expression of the presence of God. We experience the presence of God but there are times when that expression is so powerful and in this particular incident, it was manifest, it was tangible like a cloud and people felt it, they couldn’t even continue on. So, what I am trying to say is that when we worship God, we are pursuing His presence and even His glory and that is something for us to be excited about. Let’s not stop worshipping the Lord, let’s continue worshipping Him. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, we delight in your presence, we thank you for your presence. We know that you are a God who loves to manifest yourself and so we seek your glory. We pray that in this season, you will help us move into that place in worship, where we encounter your presence and your glory, we give you thanks for your word, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
