Daily Devotions for Spirit Filled Living

God's Word is spiritual food and nourishment. The Bible uses many metaphors: bread, milk, meat, food, water, honey, seed, rain, light, lamp, gold, sword, etc. for itself. God's Word is the basis for our faith. It is God's power at work in our lives. As you receive God's Word expect to receive wisdom and guidance. Expect to be healed, delivered, transformed. Expect God's supernatural power to work miracles in your life. His Word never return void or unfulfilled.

Each daily devotion is about five minutes in duration. We have intentionally developed the daily devotions around a weekly theme. So there are seven days of daily devotions that focus on the theme and bring you insight, understanding and revelation from the Bible. Each week's theme is listed as a series. So you can listen to the current week's daily devotions or go to any previous theme/series that speaks to your present need.

You can watch the video or download and listen to the audio. Almost all daily devotions end with a prayer. You can access these from this page as well as from the Home page of this website.

All our daily devotions are also available on our free church App for you to listen on your mobile device. Download our free church App from App or Google Play stores. Search for "All Peoples Church Bangalore".

Greetings and thank you once again for the opportunity to come to you and spend a few moments today in the word and prayer. This week, we are talking about strengthening our inner man and I’m just highlighting different practices or disciplines that will help us become strong spiritually in our inner man. Today, I bring our attention to another discipline which is to pray in tongues. Praying in tongues is something that God has made available for every child of God/ believer. All of us can be baptized in the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of God comes upon us and He brings with Him these gifts and one of them is the ability to speak in other tongues and God has set this for every believer, as a way by which we can be strengthened. Of course, praying in tongues serves a variety of purposes and we are not covering all of that, but one of the things the bible says happens to us when we pray in togues is that we are edified. 1 Corinthians chapter 14, verse 4, the first part says, ‘he who speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself.’ The word edify means to build himself up. It is like building an Edi fest/ strong tower, brick by brick, it is being built up. As we pray in tongues, we are edifying ourselves. Jude puts it like this in Jude chapter 1, verse 20, he says, ‘But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.’ He says, you have a foundation of faith, but you got to build your inner man/ spirit man, how do you do it? You pray in the Holy Spirit. How much should I pray in the Holy Spirit? Pray as much as you can. The apostle Paul says, I thank my God, I speak in tongues more than all of you, writing to the Corinthians, that means he prayed a lot in tongues. I want to encourage you, take time to pray a lot in tongues, maybe half an hour, an hour, two or three hours, just spend time praying in tongues. What happens when we do that? Your spirit man is being strengthened/ edified, it is a mechanism God has given to us to spiritually strengthen our inner man and there are a lot of other things that happen to your spirit when you pray in tongues, I’m just emphasizing one aspect, that you are edified in your Spirit. It is not about praying out there in public, praying in tongues is something that is a private thing, you just lock yourself in the room, spend an hour, or two praying in the Spirit and your being built up/ strengthened in your inner man. God has given that to us as a way to strengthen our inner man, let us make use of it. Let us pray, Father, we ask that you will help each of us pray in the Spirit, pray in tongues, strengthening our inner man, receiving a revelation, being renewed in the spirit and all the wonderful benefits of praying in the Spirit so that we can become strong and become effective for the kingdom of God, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
