Hello everyone, it is great to connect with you. Let’s take sometime to understand the power and authority that Christ has given us to overcome our enemy. Scriptures talk about a spiritual enemy who is working against believers. In 1 Peter chapter 5, verse 8, he is called as the adversary and we know that it is satan who is being described here. He is against God’s people and the work of God. We know that he goes about as a roaring lion, seeking to destroy people. I just want to remind us that we are fighting from a place of victory and that Christ has already given us the victory. An interesting thought is that even begore the Lord Jesus completed His work of redemption on the cross, we see that He gave authority and power to the disciples whom He commissioned. Luke chapter 10, verse 19, we read, ‘Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.’ Jesus is sending out His disciples not without giving them what they need to overcome the enemy. We notice that He has given them authority to overcome serpents and scorpions which is a figurative language to describe demons. So, we see that Jesus gave them authority over demons and the works of demons that the disciples could overcome and crush them. Not only this, we also see that He gave them power and in the ministry of the Lord Jesus, we see that He ministered with authority and with the power of the Holy Spirit. For the disciples, once the early church was birthed during the baptism of the Holy Spirit, in Acts chapter 2, we know they were bestowed with power from on high that they could continue to do the works of the Lord and be witnesses. I just want to remind us friends that while we face our spiritual enemy, the adversary, we don’t have to face him with the thought that he is all powerful and we don’t have what it takes to fight him but the reality of scripture is that Christ has already given us the authority and He has given us His disciples the keys of His kingdom to trample the works of the evil one. We carry the power and the anointing of the Holy Spirit to overcome satan and every demonic assignment. Let’s walk with confidence, authority and power. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you for this reminder that we have the authority and power over every work of the evil one. Thank you that we walk in victory, we enforce victory in the name of Jesus, Amen.
