Daily Devotional church in Bangalore
by Ps Paul Emmanuel

Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you once again for giving us this opportunity to come together, spend a few moments in God’s word and pray together. This week, we will be talking about evangelism. The Lord Jesus commissioned us and He said, ‘go and make disciples.’ He has called each one of us to evangelize to the hurting world around us, bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ. This week, we are going to discuss and talk about how we can effectively evangelize and how God has equipped us to be people who are a blessing to the people around us. We are planters and gatherers. John chapter 4, verse 31 through 38, ‘In the meantime His disciples urged Him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.” But He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.” Therefore, the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?” Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”’ After an amazing encounter with the Samaritan woman, Jesus teaches His disciples the importance of planting and gathering. Jesus saw the Samaritans approaching after the woman He was speaking with told others about Jesus. Jesus had planted a seed and it was now yielding a crop. Unfortunately, His disciples who were wrapped up in the busyness of everyday work. While it was time to go out into the town and get food for Jesus and themselves, the disciples paid no attention to the people around them, they ignored the Samaritans, they ignored that Samaritans also needed a Messiah, the Samaritans needed a savior. Though we are called to live for God, in all kind’s careers and vocations, we have one thing to remember, Jesus calls us to be planters and gatherers. He wants folks who work hard together to produce His harvest. Jesus wants His followers who will risk new planting and tend the soil patiently till it produces. He wants us to see how our livelihood depends on the harvest. Our hearts must beat for it, let us not be a church of people who only go about with our daily work or our daily routines and forget to share about God’s love and the good news to others. Let’s be people who eat, drink, plant, work at and dream of His harvest. Let us pray, Father, we thank you for this wonderful call that you have given us to evangelize, to reach out. Lord, we know that we are not doing this with our own strength and ability but we are doing it by your anointing and we thank you for this opportunity that it is freely given; freely we have received and we will freely give. Help us to be mindful of people around us and we thank you for helping us, for opening doors for us, we give you the praise and glory, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
