Our Freedom (Daily Devotional)

by Ps Jeyakumar Isaiah

Hello and welcome back to Living Supernaturally, our daily devotion. It is an awesome privilege to study the word of God together, in order to apply it and experience the power of the truth of God’s word. Today, we are considering the topic that we need to acknowledge every good thing that is in us because of who we are in Christ Jesus. Philemon verse 6 reminds us that we need to acknowledge every good thing which is in us in Christ Jesus. Today, we are looking at one of those good things which is this in Romans chapter 6, verse 18 which says, ‘And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.’ Do you know that you are free from sin? Do you know that we have been liberated, we are not slaves of sin anymore? We might have this kind of a argument or things that we say about ourself, I’m only human, I was born this way, I have this limitation, my forefathers had this problem and so it is a genetic thing and I have this temperament which is a problem. The word of God says because of the fact that you received Christ and are in spiritual union with the Lord Jesus, we have been set free and we have been set free from something that is a source of all limitation and all weakness and that is sin. We have been set free from sin and we have become slaves of righteousness and that is what we see in Romans chapter 6, verse 18. Verse 22, declares that again, ‘now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.’ This is a big thing to acknowledge that we are not slaves of sin, to our thought patterns, to the addictions that we might be going through or entertaining in our life, that we are slaves of righteousness, which means we have been set free from sin, from the influence/ outcome, from all that entraps us because of sin. Let’s look at another scripture, Galatians chapter 5, verse 1, it says, ‘Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free.’ Stand fast means stand strong, stand established, be alert, stand fast in the freedom and liberty by which Christ has made us free and do not be entangled again with the yolk of bondage, which means that while we have been set free, it is an awesome privilege and freedom; scripture warns us, do not become entangled again with the yolk of bondage which means that yes, it is possible to be entangled again. If we would go back and consider our old ways, it is possible to be entangled again. Instead, acknowledge that we have been set free and we are the righteousness of God in Christ and walk from that place of strength. Shall we pray, Father, we thank you that we have been set free in Christ Jesus. We thank you that your word declares that because of your work on the cross, we have bene liberated and in fact, we are slaves of righteousness. I pray that we will experience that freedom today. I pray for the of us who are struggling in different areas, maybe addictions, may there be a freedom and I just declare freedom and liberty today in the name Jesus, be set free and walk free, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
