Daily Devotional church in Bangalore
by Ps Ashish Raichur

Greetings and thank you for joining us today on this daily devotional. This week, we're talking about personal evangelism and emphasizing the fact that people need Jesus. As we bring the message of Jesus to them, we're actually meeting certain needs in their life. Today, I want us to understand that as we bring Jesus to people, we're helping open prison door in their life. In Isaiah chapter 42, verse 7 talking about the messenger, the servant of the Lord, it says, that He comes ‘to open blind eyes, to bring prisoners from the prison, those who sit in darkness from the prison house.’ Again, Isaiah repeats this in Isaiah chapter 61, verse 1, the passage that Jesus quoted for His own ministry, He says, ‘the Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor, He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.’ Jesus quoted these same words- bring liberty to the captives, open prison doors to those who are bound. Now think about this, people all around us, people all around us are in prison, people all around us are captive to all kinds of things, we can sit down and list all kinds of things. They are captives emotionally to fear, to hatred, to all kinds of emotional things that holds them in bondage. People are in prison, captives to all kinds of addictions, things that just enslaves them. Jesus has come to bring out prisoners from the prison. He's come to bring people out of the prison house. He's come to bring liberty to those captives and the opening of the prison to those who are bound. This is what the message of Jesus will do for them and this is why people need Jesus and this is why you and I must bring Jesus to people. When you're sharing Jesus with somebody, you don't know in what way they are going to be set free and if Jesus sets them free, they will be free indeed. You're bringing to them the very freedom they need. People need Jesus! Let's pray, Lord we ask that you'll have help us recognize that Jesus Christ is the one who can open the prison doors and set people free, that as we bring the message of Jesus to them, we’re giving them an opportunity to come out of the prison house. So, motivate us to be messengers of the gospel, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
