Daily Devotions for Spirit Filled Living

God's Word is spiritual food and nourishment. The Bible uses many metaphors: bread, milk, meat, food, water, honey, seed, rain, light, lamp, gold, sword, etc. for itself. God's Word is the basis for our faith. It is God's power at work in our lives. As you receive God's Word expect to receive wisdom and guidance. Expect to be healed, delivered, transformed. Expect God's supernatural power to work miracles in your life. His Word never return void or unfulfilled.

Each daily devotion is about five minutes in duration. We have intentionally developed the daily devotions around a weekly theme. So there are seven days of daily devotions that focus on the theme and bring you insight, understanding and revelation from the Bible. Each week's theme is listed as a series. So you can listen to the current week's daily devotions or go to any previous theme/series that speaks to your present need.

You can watch the video or download and listen to the audio. Almost all daily devotions end with a prayer. You can access these from this page as well as from the Home page of this website.

All our daily devotions are also available on our free church App for you to listen on your mobile device. Download our free church App from App or Google Play stores. Search for "All Peoples Church Bangalore".

Obedience (Daily Devotional)

by Ps Nancy Ramya

Welcome friends, we are studying about humility from the life of Jesus. Let’s look at the passage from Philippians chapter 2, verses 5 through 8, ‘Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.’ We are talking about humility, which is to walk without being arrogant, without being haughty or prideful. As we look at the life of Jesus, we have seen that though He was God, He did not hold onto that and boast about it. Instead, He chose to walk as a man, in all His limitations and fulfill God’s purpose for His life. We truly learn from the life of Jesus the kind of attitude we need to carry. We, as human beings, need to also be submissive to what God, the Father has for us. The life of Jesus is an amazing life of obedience, it is an amazing life of submission and the authority that Jesus walked with, it flowed from the submission that He had to the Father. He was submitted to the Father in every way. If there was one person who could have been excused from a life of prayer or a life of walking in humility, walking in virtues, walking in the power of God, it would have been the Lord Jesus because He was the very Son of God, and He could have been self-willed and done whatever He pleased, it probably would have been ok, however. The Lord Jesus never disobeyed the Father, He always surrendered His will to the Father. We read in John chapter 5 and verse 19, ‘Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.’ In this way, the Lord Jesus was obedient to the Father, He was completely surrender to the Father, He was dependent on the Father and the only thing that He carried in His heart was to do the will of the Father, even at times when it was very difficult. We remember the time in the garden of Gethsemane, where He was under so much pressure that He desired that there be a different outcome of His life, but He surrounded to the will of the Father and said, ‘Father, not my will, but yours be done.’ Such was the obedience of Jesus, that shows us the humility with which Jesus walked, and humility is understood as obedience to God. No matter what our achievements are, no matter where we are in our lives, we need to walk obedient and surrendered to God and that is true humility. True humility will help us submit to God’s plans for our lives. True humility will help us walk in obedience. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, thank you for the example of Jesus. Thank you that He lived a life of obedience. We pray that you will enable us to continue in obedience and humility, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
