Daily Devotions for Spirit Filled Living

God's Word is spiritual food and nourishment. The Bible uses many metaphors: bread, milk, meat, food, water, honey, seed, rain, light, lamp, gold, sword, etc. for itself. God's Word is the basis for our faith. It is God's power at work in our lives. As you receive God's Word expect to receive wisdom and guidance. Expect to be healed, delivered, transformed. Expect God's supernatural power to work miracles in your life. His Word never return void or unfulfilled.

Each daily devotion is about five minutes in duration. We have intentionally developed the daily devotions around a weekly theme. So there are seven days of daily devotions that focus on the theme and bring you insight, understanding and revelation from the Bible. Each week's theme is listed as a series. So you can listen to the current week's daily devotions or go to any previous theme/series that speaks to your present need.

You can watch the video or download and listen to the audio. Almost all daily devotions end with a prayer. You can access these from this page as well as from the Home page of this website.

All our daily devotions are also available on our free church App for you to listen on your mobile device. Download our free church App from App or Google Play stores. Search for "All Peoples Church Bangalore".

Nehemiah (Daily Devotional)

by Ps Jeyakumar Isaiah

Hello and welcome back and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you for being with us on today’s daily devotional. We are so glad that you could be here as we take time to learn about the people of God and some lessons that are there and how we can apply these lessons in our lives as New Testament believers. Today, we are going to take some time to look at Nehemiah. We look at Nehemiah chapter 1 and verse 4, ‘So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.’ What caused this response or these emotions from Nehemiah? He receives the news that the walls of Jerusalem are broken down and the gates of the city have been burned and there is chaos and confusion and the city is an a very vulnerable state from outside and others. So, it moves him so much when he hears these words, he weeps for his city and he mourns for many days and he fasts and prays before the God of heaven. During this time, something happens to him that he confirms later that God put something in his heart, that he needs to do. He goes on to pray and he is burdened for his city and the people. This is his prayer; he identifies himself with the sin of the land. He says, these are my people, this is the way by which they have gone away from your word and ways and he confesses that sin on behalf of his people. How many of us would be willing to do that? He says, Lord, I have sinned and my people have sinned, we have not walked right before you and he confesses that, fast and prays. The he prays for the king and he says I’m going to go and talk to him; I pray for your favor. Then we see that in the verses following that Nehemiah is endowed with unusual favor as he goes before the king and the king asks him why is your face sad? He goes on to tell him about what is happening to his people and the city. There is unusual favor, he asks for letters of permission to pass through the land of other rulers, for granting material of timber from the forests and the king grants him that. So, he is able to go back and meet the people with all this and he says in verse 12 of chapter 2, as he is there in Jerusalem with his people and he is going across the land at night along with a few men and he says, ‘I told no one what my God had put in my heart to do at Jerusalem.’ As he was seeking God, he was getting a divine download from God what he must do, he was getting his assignment from God. We see this favor which is towards the assignment, we see this unusual provision which is again towards the assignment and they go ahead and they rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. Maybe you are moved unusually, you see others, they are not moved by certain problems/ issues in the city but as you take it to the Lord in prayer, the Lord will grant that assignment, favor, provision in your heart. Shall we pray? Father, we pray that you will move us today. Even as we read about all that is happening in our city and nation, we pray that you will move us, give us that burden to pray. Even as we seek you in fasting and prayer, I pray that there will be that assignment that you will write upon our hearts, what we need to do upon our heart. Thank you for the favor, provision that accompanies that assignment, we give you all the praise and glory, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
