Hello and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you for joining us today for our daily devotional, where we take some time to look into God’s word so that we can learn and apply. Today, we are continuing our study on the people of God and some of the lessons we can learn from the lives. We know that these people were not perfect, they had their limitations, weaknesses but God used them despite all that. Today, we are going to look at the life of Moses and we are in Exodus chapter 3, verses 10 onwards, this is what we read, God tells Moses, ‘Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” God gives a call to Moses and says, ‘I will send you to Pharoah that you might bring my people, the children of Israel out of Egypt.’ This is Moses’s response to the call. Verse 11, ‘But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”’ Verse 12, ‘So He said, “I will certainly be with you. And this shall be a sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”’ God calls Moses, God commissions him on this purpose and assignment to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt and out of slavery. But Moses’s response is this, ‘who am I that I should go to Pharaoh,’ this call is too big, too special and unique and who am I that I should do this? The Lord gives Moses the reassurance and He says, ‘I will be with you’ and the Lord says, ‘this is the end, you will bring them out and, on this mountain, you will serve and worship me.’ From then on, we see Moses is even more reluctant. He comes with reasons and he says what about this and that? Let’s look at a few of them. Moses says in Exodus chapter 3, verses 13, Moses said to God, ‘“Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?”’ Here he is saying, what is this identity and who is this God who has sent you and so what shall I say to them? The Lord says, ‘I am that I am.’ You shall tell them that ‘I AM’ has sent and I am the God of their forefathers and then Moses again has another question, he is reluctant again and says, ‘suppose, they don’t believe me? suppose they say, the Lord has not appeared to you, in that case what do I do? Then God gives three signs, He says, this is what you need to do, you take that staff in your hand, put it down and it will become a snake and he does that. The Lord says, you put your hand inside your coat and then take it out, it becomes leprous and God gives him another sign, He says, take the water from the river, but you pour it on the ground and it will become as blood and so on. Moses has other reasons, he says, I’m not eloquent, why don’t you send someone else? But God is so patient and so also, maybe today, you are in that place saying, God’s call is too big and you have all these reasons but one good thing is you can engage with God. Continue to engage, ask and reason with God, don’t shut down the call of God. Shall we pray? Father, we thank you for call that you have for each one of us, so distinct, wonderful and beautiful. Though we might come out with many reasons why we cannot do it, why it seems so difficult but you are so patient to show us, teach us and to promise us that you will be with us. Today, I pray that all the lies of the enemy will be dismantled, all the fears will be taken away and we will be free to pursue your call for your purpose and your glory, we thank you, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
