Hello and welcome to Living Supernaturally, the daily devotion of All People’s church. We are so glad that you could be here. We have been studying about God’s love and the different aspects of it in the first epistle of John. Today, we look at 1 John chapter 4, verses 15 and 16, ‘Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.’ We see this wonderful verse which talks about a personal confession coming from a place of personal conviction. Personal conviction that Jesus is the Son of God leading to a public confession that Jesus is the Son of God. So, when that confession is made from that place of personal conviction, it says that God abides in him and he abides in God. This is a wonderful relationship that we are brought into when we confess from that place of conviction. Not just saying the words meaninglessly or out of compulsion or as a ritual but from a place of conviction. It says that God abides in him and such a person abides in God. Verse 16 says that we have known and believed the love of God that God has for us. There is a very strong correlation or relationship between knowing Jesus, receiving Jesus and knowing and believing the love of God. So, when we know the Lord, we know the love that God has for us because that is the message of the gospel. It starts by saying that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. So, when we receive and believe in the Son, we believe that God has love for us and loves us. Sometimes, we might think that emotionally I don’t feel the love of God, well, have you received Jesus? Yes, then you know that you have believed in the love that God has for you. It says here that God is love and he who abides in this God kind of love abides in God and God in him. This is the wonderful truth that we have and we speak out of this conviction and we confess and God comes and abides in us. We know that when He abides in us, He brings His resource and love and scriptures says, God is love and we are brought into this loving and living relationship with the love of God. When we stay in that place of love, we continue to abide in God. So, why don’t we pray? Father, we thank you that you bring us into this wonderful relationship because of our conviction and confession. We thank you that this relationship with your Son is with your love. Enable us to abide, stay and continue our walk with you and our walk in this love and in doing so, we know that we will abide in you, in Jesus’ matchless name we pray, Amen.
