Daily Devotional church in Bangalore
by Ps Ashish Raichur

Greetings and thank you once again for the opportunity to come to you today and spend a few minutes with you in the word of God and in prayer. We are reigniting within our hearts a passion for souls and personal evangelism. This week, we are emphasizing the fact that people all around us need Jesus. God has put eternity in their hearts. People around us, they are like sheep without a shepherd. People around us, their eternal destiny is hanging in the balance. Even though they may have everything around them, gained the whole world so to speak, yet, their eternal destiny is still waiting to be determined- where are they going to go, where will they spend eternity, that is the question and they need Jesus. Today, I want to bring our attention to another aspect of why people need Jesus. The bible tells us in John chapter 1, speaking about the Lord it says in verses 4 and 5, ‘In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.’ I will refer to one more verse in John chapter 8, verse 12, ‘I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.’ The bible tells us in Jesus there is life and this life that He brings to us which gives us life and is our enlightening. It is telling is that the whole world is in darkness but the life of Jesus brings the light we need. Jesus said, I am the light of this world, if you follow me, you will not walk in darkness. When we are talking about light and darkness, it is not just in the natural realm that the bible is referring to obviously. Darkness has to do with the absence of the very presence of God, it has to do with the dominion of the wicked one, it has to do with whatever is missing which only the life of God can bring- perhaps it is the meaning, purpose and guidance from God. So, people are in spiritual darkness and when we bring the message of Jesus, we are bringing to them the one who is the life and His life will dispel darkness and the light they need- opening their understanding and knowledge about God, bringing them into the light of God. People need Jesus because they are in darkness but God wants them in His light. Let’s pray, Father, we ask that you will help us bring Jesus to people- the one who is the life and His life dispels darkness so that people can enjoy the light of life. Help us to do this, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
