Daily Devotional church in Bangalore
by Ps Jeyakumar Isaiah
Welcome to Living Supernaturally, the daily devotion of All People's Church. This week, we've been studying about the lie versus truth. When we hold on to a lie, then we are led deeper into bondage. However, when we hold on to the truth and we let the truth expose the lie, then the Lord leads us into freedom and into liberty. The second one that we are going to look at is this whole aspect of addictions. The lie is that you can never be free from this habit/ addiction. How many of us believe that lie? Because we have given into that addiction over and over again. Maybe there's a stronghold, maybe it's a cycle of failure and defeat and maybe you've been trying so hard to shake off that addiction and you begin to believe that lie that yes, this will always be there as part of your life as long as you live. Well, that is a lie because the truth of God's word says in John chapter 8 and verse 36, ‘therefore, if the Son sets you free, or makes you free, you shall be free indeed.’ So, if the Son sets us free, we are free indeed. Another scripture- Romans chapter 6 and verse 14 says, "For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace." The same chapter, verse 22 says, "But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life." So, this is the truth. The truth is that sin cannot have dominion over you because you are a new creation in Christ Jesus. Well, the lie can be shouted out loud and strong and trying to be as convincing as possible, maybe that lie is repeated over and over and over again till you begin to believe, can this be the truth? Well, the truth of God's scripture, God's word, is that sin cannot have dominion over you. There could be another lie about addictions that God is disappointed, that you have failed so many times and He's not going to help you now. Well, the truth is Hebrews chapter 4 and verse 15 and 16, it says, "For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.’ Well, we might think that because of our failures that God is disappointed, He's not going to help us because we have failed for the nth time. Well, scripture says something that is completely opposite. It says that yes, God sympathizes with our weakness, but He does not want to leave us in that place of weakness, but He wants to help us. So, we can boldly come to the throne of grace, for what? To obtain mercy for the for our failings and to find grace to help in time of need. Grace is divine enablement that's accessible for us today.

Shall we pray? Father, we thank you that you are always there to help us. We thank you that you are our redeemer. We thank you Lord that there is overcoming power available from you and so, we thank you for this truth of scripture that we can always lean on you, that we need not be slaves to sin, we have been set free from it. We thank you that even as we embrace the truth and walk in the truth, enable us to walk free and experience the liberty that you have given us in Christ Jesus, in Jesus’ matchless name we pray, Amen.
