Hello everyone, we're talking about the importance of pursuing God and today we're going to
focus on pursuing intimacy with God. Let's begin by reading a couple of scriptures. John chapter
15 and verse 5, ‘I am the vine; you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, bears
much fruit; For without me you can do nothing.’ We will also read John chapter 15 and verse 9,
it says as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you, abide in my love.’ Jesus is inviting us to
abide in Him, to connect with Him and to be a part of Him. Now Jesus is speaking to us what He
Himself practiced. We know that in the life of Jesus and even in the ministry of Jesus, He was
well connected to the Father. We read about Him in John chapter 1 and verse 18, that He was
in the bosom of the Father.’ The bosom of the Father refers to the embrace of the Father. While
Jesus connected with the Father, it was not just to be fruitful in the ministry that God had given
Him. So, Jesus did not pursue a work relationship with the Father and just that. We find that the
relationship that Jesus pursued with the Father is one of love and that's why scripture tells us
that he was in the bosom of the Father, in other words, He was in the embrace of the Father.
And similarly, for us, as the Lord Jesus invites us to abide in Him. We saw in John chapter 15 and
verse 5, the invitation is for us to dwell with Him. We are also told that as we dwell with Him,
we will become bearers of much fruit. The life of God flowing in us and through us will not just
revive us, refresh us, strengthen us but also cause us to be fruitful for the purposes that God
has called us for. So, let's once again take that step of seeking God, pursuing God but above all
pursuing intimacy with God. Just one thought here, regarding the life of Jesus as connected to
the Father, we observe that Jesus was a man of prayer and that reveals that He had a pursuit
after the Father. So, just to encourage us to grow our prayer lives with God, to grow our prayer
lives and seek God and spend time with God in prayer and that is one of the sure ways for us to
be intimate with God. And as Jesus heard from the Father, we too will begin to hear from Him
clearly, we too will become more sensitive to God. So, let's pray for an intimate walk with the
Lord, Heavenly Father, we thank you that you have called us as sons and daughters in
relationship with you. We pray this day that you will enable us to be close to you, to be in your
embrace, to be intimate with you and to enjoy your love and presence in our lives, in Jesus’
name, we pray, Amen.
