Hello everyone, thank you for joining. We'll continue to talk about leadership today and today, we will look at the fact that while leading there can be some sacrifice that is needed to be made and leaders should be ready to make that sacrifice. Let's read from the passage in Hebrews chapter 5, verses 7 through 9, ‘who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was hurt because of His godly fear, though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.’ We can understand the way the Lord Jesus led us and this passage is speaking about the time when He struggled in that garden of Gethsemane, where He had to go up to the cross and He prays to the Father, He asks Him to consider taking away this cup from Him or not letting Him die on the cross because Jesus felt the pain in His emotions during that period, due to what was ahead of Him. So, we can see that the Lord Jesus, though He was the Son of God, went through sufferings, He went through times like this where He understood that He had to make a huge sacrifice to fulfill what God called Him to do. The same passage also speaks about Him being the Son of God and yet it says He learned obedience in all things. This leads us to see the humility of our Lord Jesus and His servant leadership that He left behind all the glory and He was ready to obey God, He was ready to do it God's way. So, for us, when we are leading people, serving people, there can be times where we may be in a place where we have to sacrifice some things that are so precious to us or some things that we may feel is a right for us but going by the way Jesus led, He was ready to sacrifice Himself, He gave Himself up to death and He also walked in obedience to the Father. I mean think about this, if He wanted to fulfill God's plan, He could have done it in a moment but He went through a lifetime, 30 years of journeying as a human being, going through all the challenges that human beings go through and yet the passage in Hebrews chapter 4 tells us that He was sinless, He was tempted in every way but He was sinless. He lived an overcoming life and there was so much sacrifice in His leadership for us. Today friends, if we find ourselves in places where we have to let go of the very things that we think we are entitled to, we need to be ready to make those sacrifices so that we can be leaders just the way the Lord Jesus was. Let's pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you for giving us a pattern and helping us know that there could be a sacrifice involved while we lead others. Father, we just pray for the grace to be able to walk through this and fulfill what you have called us to do, in Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
